Scene Tour The event was well-attended and very good! People are to send photos taken at the event of the challenges to Amys gulgbt e-mail account or put them on Facebook (but make sure these are not tagged), and the deadline is 22nd October. The mystery prize will be something like sweets (Rian has a mixture of sweets in his flat tons of gay bacon! that he can use). We will need people to count up the points for the challenges; Kim offered to use Amys laptop to do this. Rian got a memo (side note/comment) about the event not being very organised however we agreed that a scene tour is very hard to organise at times. We were in bars at the wrong times, however it does take great effort to ask people to leave, and you cannot force people to move when they do not want to. The organisational problems were minor however, as new members said they had a fantastic time and gave us positive feedback. Two favourite clubs were Delmonicas and Club X. Film Club was an absolute success, the only thing to perhaps improve would be to have someone prepare a discussion beforehand (does not have to be huge) just so that the discussion at the end is a little more guided and the event is run a little more smoothly. 28 people turned up to the event, and lots of new members there which is a great sign! Post-Mat Event Nicola had attended, and said around 10 people turned up. She enjoyed it, said the venue was great as there was an opportunity to buy food and drink. Suggestions for improvement included maybe having an ice-breaker activity to get people talking, as she said it was a little difficult to mingle at the event. Gay Mans Health Launch Just 5 people turned up in all one including Nicola! However, one positive to draw from it was that of the 5 members that showed up, all of them were Glasgow Uni students!

SOE Officer Talk (Liam King) On Wednesday 27th November, the QMU are having a Red Ribbon Ball. Liam has been working with Hannah Gower, president of the Dialectic Society, who had the idea of hosting a charity fundraiser (fundraising for Terrance Higgins Trust) before the Red Ribbon Ball at the QMU. It would have been great for the QMU and also for us at GULGBTQ+/Dialectic/SRC because we will have been raising money for a great cause. The idea would be that people paid 5 entry, and that there was a dinner in a cabaret-type setting in Qudos. If we were teaming up with the dialectic society, there are lots of alumni there who can generate revenue for the event. However, as the Red Ribbon Ball started at 7:30 (quite early), and the event was on a Wednesday (meaning the dinner was not really ideal for QMU/GULGBTQ+ Soc as our events are on Wednesday nights) Liam decided to change the event date to Saturday 30th November. However (usual story), QMU have not been at all helpful at the moment. Liam has decided to host the event instead at the GUU. Of course, this is a sensitive issue for the LGBTQ+ society (we have not yet reached our agreement on affiliation), and Liam says though this will be a great event, he does not want to put the society in an uncomfortable position. We can however have as little or as much involvement in the event as we want to. Amy said that we are still waiting for the review that the GUU have been carrying out to be announced, and we have no idea how this review will turn out, therefore we cannot be clear on whether we are re-affiliating at the moment. Charles said we must make it clear that we must make it clear that we have been invited to the event as a society, and we are not hosting it. Important to remember the success of the Traffic Light Party, which was very well received no homophobia, and a lot of people open to the idea of purple paint/LGBTQ+. Kim said that it could be an excuse to re-open communication with the GUU, and it certainly could pressure the GUU to communicate more with us and let us know more about whats going on with the review. We need to remember and make sure not to rush into a decision about affiliation with the GUU until we have had another chat with them. Liam has said he will put us in touch with Hannah Gower re the difference between the dialectic society and the Ancients (the Ancients being the ones who were involved with the sexism scandal NOT the dialectic). And since there has been a delay in the GUU review, Amy thought we should go in and ask after it. We decided to get back to Liam on what we were doing re his event, to come to a decision we want to find out: 1) The difference between GU ancients and the Dialectic Soc. 2) GUU review progress and gender neutral toilets policy, etc. Check when next board meeting is, re-open lines of communication. Liam also spoke about a talk with a Glasgow University surgeon/professor

diagnosed with HIV Aids that he was organising for the 29th/30th November with the QMU. Potential to be a great talk! Also, Liam concluded by telling us we must make sure we do not pay for Scran as the Whisky Club are allowed Scran seems unfair that we werent and theyre making us pay so much. Iain said that he has notes for Amy on her drafted complaint to the QMU over the Scran/Meet and Greet issue. Website We need to re-write pages. First year member, Mariam (sp) went on the website, and has very kindly and helpfully made notes on what she thinks she could change. One thing was changing the formats of the drop-down lists. Mariam doesnt know how to speak the code of the website, however she does know HTML which would come in really handy, and wants to get involved with helping us sort the website (also wants to write a blog!) Iain will put in the new domain name www.gulgbtqplus.co.uk when hes got time to. Jen has promised to upload all of the new minutes from this year by next week. We agreed that to make the website more friendly, we need to pop up photos. Since no-one brought laptops, we will need to look at the website sometime in the future four members agreed to bring their laptops with them next committee meeting, and this is something we will go over. Ceilidh Andrew was contacting the Piping Centre (he can get back to us on this at a later date). Amy said however that he discovered the provisional booking that made the Piping Centre more expensive was made by CARLO! As Carlo had pre-booked a few dates, however is willing to give us the date he had provisionally booked, and this means well still have the venue for 100! Well need to confirm the capacity of the venue and perhaps view it ourselves to see what we think. Charlie said that the celtic group at uni have just elected in a new committee. He will let them know were interested by getting in contact with the president Dom Walsh and see if theyre available for the 4th December. EGM Speeches Rian and Jen are to make speeches, they will write them and pop them up on Facebook for 22nd October Vote Counting Geri, Iona and Katie Smith have been roped in to count up the votes. They will however need to be told how the voting system works, so we should meet up earlier (6:30) with them to discuss this. Mailing List Make sure this is downloaded Venue - the Japanese Society have had a block-booking for committee room 1, which means were clashing at the moment. Rian will have a discussion with the QMU and try to solve this problem. The order of the event:

6:15 Set up tables, making sure Jen has own table, and that the exec sit on the table at the front, and set up chairs. Go through the voting system with the vote counters. 7:30 EGM starts, Presidential introduction and speeches from both Rian and Jen. In this, you want to talk about how events are going, explain how members vote, and what youre looking forward to, how constitutional amendments will work, etc. Remember to apologise for the member mix-up at the start of the year that meant some didnt receive the newsletter for a very long time! - Financial Report will be given - Ask members if they have any questions before proceeding to the constitutional amendments. - Constitutional amendments (one constitutional amendment was re when minutes are put up doesnt specify a date, maybe put it as 14 days after the meeting?) - Elections: VP Treasurer, Post-Mat, Campaigns, First Year. - Finish and head to AXM. AXM will have leaflets at the event to publicise themselves. Rian says he can hand out discount cards, but believes everyone may have their first drink free (needs to double check that). NOT VERY SMALL SIDE NOTE RIAN MUST MAKE SURE HE REMEMBERS TO TURN UP TO THE NEXT SRC AFFILIATION MEETING. Church/Gym Events Church Amy has decided we will go to Ibrox this week, a church specifically for LGBT people (not just open/inclusive as St Marys Episcopal Church states). Caitlin Wakefield wants to take us. Gym Event Need to change the time to 3pm as Rian has a surprise history seminar to go to. Rian said he fancied just going for a swim/using the gym instead of going to a specific class. He will advertise this on Facebook nearer the time. Gender Neutral Toilets Rian will copy and paste all from the meeting he had with the fem-soc about gender neutral toilets. There is also an SOEG meeting this Thursday to attend. Jen Left 7:30 minutes taken by Nicola Halloween Halloween event simple? Rian + Nic costume shopping Apple bopping & pumpkin carving etc Possibly Qudos? Sponsorship Confidential to committee only
