Welcome to The Heathland School

Dear Parents/Guardians, At The Heathland, young people are educated in a calm, happy and orderly climate with a clear focus on learning. We are proud of our motto Committed to Excellence. This means we strive for high academic standards for all pupils. Our approach to discipline and pastoral care is based on traditional standards respect for staff, courtesy and good manners. We positively encourage pupils from the time they start in Year 7 to aim for a good university. Generations of former pupils have benefited from the breadth of our curriculum which at GCSE always included all the elements of the English Baccalaureate. The Heathland is renowned for its strength in Mathematics and Science. The range of our curriculum starting from Year 7 shows we equally value the Arts, Humanities and Modern Languages. The sixth form at The Heathland School has a reputation for academic excellence, and is a vibrant community which plays a major part in the life of the school as a whole. Each year over 90% of our Y13 leavers progress to Higher Education, with a significant proportion of these students going to the top Russell Group universities. The schools record of success is without doubt determined by a team of well qualified, talented and committed staff delivering quality lessons, setting high expectations and providing a remarkable range of enrichment activities. We appreciate the care required in choosing the right secondary school for your child. We are unique in being open to visits when it suits you as parents. Please arrange to see us during the day with your son or daughter. I hope you will see for yourself students are proud of their school and enjoy their education one of a number of accolades from our last Ofsted Inspection. I look forward to seeing you.
