F.A.Q
Q. What exactly does it do? A. The purpose of this adaptor is to convert a geared wheel with a screw-on type hub (not cassette type hubs) to a fixed wheel or single speed freewheel. The adaptor screws onto the threads on your hub and a single sprocket is screwed onto the adaptor, which extends the sprocket out to give the correct chainline to match your front chainwheel. Q. Won't it just unscrew from the hub if I stop pedalling? A. No, but please follow these guidelines:
1. If using your bike for general purpose riding and using brakes for slowing down, or using a singlespeed freewheel sprocket then all you need to do is screw the adaptor fully onto the hub and tighten with good force and it will not come loose. This gives you the advantage of being able to take it back off in the future and change back to gears. 2. If you intend to use back pedalling as a means of braking, using very small gear ratios or pulling skids etc, then it is recommended that you request that the adhesive be supplied. This is a special purpose 2 part epoxy adhesive that comes with detailed instructions on how to apply. It is a very simple process, however please be aware that once the adhesive is used then it will not be possible to remove the adaptor in the future. It is recommended that a 'dry run' is carried out to make sure that the adaptor is fit for purpose.
Q. Will the adaptor fit my wheel? A. Yes. All threaded hubs are the same thread size 1.375"x24tpi. Q. What size lockring does it take? A. British thread size 1.29"x24tpi - which we also sell if required.
