The Bookon AircraftStressAnalysis

The Book on Aircraft Stress Analysis (or The Book or Zen and the Art of Aircraft Stress Analysis) is a collection of over one hundred Excel Spreadsheets that cover the proverbial random walk through the aircraft stress analysis universe. Many figures in the Elmer F. Bruhns classic Analysis and Design of Flight Vehicle Structures have been graphed in Microsoft Excel to eliminate the chore of eyeballing the chart. Solved example problems have been included from Bruhn as well as David Peerys Aircraft Structures and the NASA Astronautics Structures Manual. Also included on the disk (in pdf format) are many NACA documents, Mil-HNBK-5H and the NASA Astronautic Structures Manual. Future editions will include Theory of Composite Materials, Energy Methods, and instructions for engineers on flushing toilets, washing hands and making coffee. Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics will not be covered. Nobody understands Fatigue, Fracture Mechanics or Durability and Damage Tolerance and studying the topics will not increase your knowledge of the subject matter.

Many small differences in answers are obviously due to roundup, reading values from charts or using slide rules. As an example, the strength of a stepped column for Section C2.12, Case 2 - Inelastic Failure, page C2.16 my answer is Pcr = 24,058 versus Elmer Bruhns Pcr = 23,500
