Glorious Food

Dear everyone, this lesson was contributed by Ms Umi Baizuriah... LESSON PLAN Date : 19 April 2010 Time/duration : 9.00am-10.00am (1 hour) Class : 5 Intan Number of students : Proficiency level : Intermediate Background knowledge : Pupils have a knowledge . Subject : English language Topic : Glorious food (Healthy food Tuna Fish Sandwich) Theme : World of Knowledge. Learning outcomes : By the end of year 5, pupils should be able to: 3.3 Read and understand phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and whole texts. 2.3 Give relevant information politely in response to enquiries made. 1.5 Obtain information from texts listened to in relation to main ideas, specific details, and sequence. Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: 1. Obtain information in the recipe of Tuna Fish Sandwich. 2. Answer questions correctly based on the recipe given. 3. Follow the written instructions properly by make a tuna fish sandwiches. Educational Emphases : Thinking skills making associations and connections, Resource / Reference : 1. English Year 5, Sekolah Kebangsaan Teachers Guide and Year 5 textbook. 2. Sukatan Pelajaran Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Kebangsaan, Bahasa Inggeris 2003 Tahun 5. Moral values : Cooperation (working in group) Cleanliness (washing hand before preparing food)
Procedure: Set Induction

- Teacher greets the pupils.

- Teacher asks pupils to sit in group. - Teacher will shows on slide the pictures of two people and foods to pupils. (A man + Burger & A lady +Salad)
- Teacher asks a few questions to pupils based on the pictures shown. (Ask bout the ingredients)

Presentation Stage

- Teacher shows on slides about the process in making a Tuna Fish Sandwich. - Teacher will asks pupils to skim at the recipe shown.
- Teacher will demonstrate as the students are skimming through the instruction .

Practice Stage - Teacher provides 7 questions based on the instruction shown just now on slides. - Pupils need to answer the questions in group.
- Teacher and pupils will check the answer together.

Production Stage

- Teacher will provide instruction on what the next activity. - Teacher will tells the pupils to reread the sandwich making process and prepare at least 2 sets for each group. - Teacher will shows the slides about the process of making a Tuna Sandwich again. - Teacher will provides the ingredients and materials to pupils to make their own tuna sandwich. - Before starting the activity, each of the pupils need to wash their hand using sanitizer provided by teacher. - Teacher will monitor pupils' activity. - Teacher will evaluates pupils' task. Closure - Teacher recaps the lesson by posting a variety of questions related to the processes. - Teacher will elicit the moral value by giving clues based on the activity carried out.
