November 2013 Dear Friend, Greetings to you from everyone at the church. This month we will be taking the time to celebrate Thanksgiving. There are so many things we all can be thankful to God for. Even if things aren't going the way they're supposed to go, or if you find yourself in struggles and problems, the Bible says that the Lord is a very present help in trouble! He is there so we can turn to Him at any time. Many people think their best days are behind them. When they remember the people in their lives at this time of the year sadness tends to creep in. I often think of Thanksgivings at my Grandma Ruggles' house. All 17 of us cousins would be together at once and excitement would fill my heart. My dad would always halfheartedly yell at us kids to keep quiet, but of course his pleas were futile in a group of kids from toddlers to teenagers! I remember the turkey and the turnips and how much fun we had. Many other memories come to mind of days gone by. But then I think of what the Lord Jesus has told us in John 14:1-3, Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. We may not understand why things happen the way they do. We surely miss our loved ones who had such an impact on our lives. My memories are clear and they are a part of me. They make me who I am today. But the Lord Jesus directs our attention, not to the things behind us, but to the things He has prepared before us! He bids us to lift our fallen eyes to the things He has prepared for us. He said to not let your heart be troubled. Each of us have more before us than behind us! It doesn't matter if you are in your 90's or even one hundred years old. We will have an eternity of living to do with the Lord Jesus and all those who are saved by His amazing grace! The same apostle John, who quoted the Lord earlier in this newsletter, also wrote these words, And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for

her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God (Revelation 21: 2 & 3). It sounds like we won't be homeless in heaven! He has prepared a place for us so we can actually dwell with the Lord Himself. John goes on and says, And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. We are living in the midst of former things now, but one day soon we will see Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He made it possible for you and me to enjoy eternal life. I don't know what it will be like to not have to worry about sorrows or pains or dying or even crying sometimes. What will it be like for the Lord to wipe away the tears that fall down your cheeks at night? In order to accomplish the things He promised in His Word, He will have to handle the reasons for all these emotions. Could it be that the Lord has prepared a life for us that we can't even image or comprehend? There is a verse of Scripture that always thrills me when I read it. I Corinthians 2:9, which says, But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. He loves each of us and has prepared things we cannot even imagine. I believe we will see many of our loved ones again. I believe we will see people and places and things we can only think about now, only in that day will be reality. But all of this will be on a level we are unable to comprehend now. You will be able to breathe again! If your past was dark, your future is so much brighter! If your past was good, how much better is your future? God has prepared some things for you that we know nothing of. All of this is because Jesus Christ died on the cross so we may live! If you don't know Him personally, ask Him to come into your heart now. He will not cast you aside. He will forgive your sins and change you into the person He intended you to be. He is as close as the mention of His name. May God bless you! If you are in the Torrington area please come to our church as my honored guest. Our services are Sunday at 10 AM and 7PM and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Until next time, may God be with you. Sincerely, Rev. Daniel Bossidy
