Cash for Clunkers has been a huge
success for the Obama administra-
tion.
The aim of the program is to en-
courage trading in gas-guzzling
vehicles for more fuel efficient
ones. It also stimulates auto sales.
The government put up $1 billion
to fund the program.
Consumers, taking advantage of
the program used that up in a
week.
The House, yesterday, swiftly
added another $2 billion to the
program to keep it going.
Shelley Berkley and Dina Titus
both voted for the appropriation.
Republican Dean Heller voted
against it. Why? Who knows?

Governor Jim Gibbons sent a letter
to Senator Harry Reid asking him
to repeal the Nuclear Waste Policy
Act which designates Yucca Moun-
tain as a nuclear waste dump.
But in 2007 Governor Gibbons
backed a state engineer’s extension
to allow the Department of Energy
to use Nevada water to drill bore
holes near Yucca Mountain.
“Jim Gibbons has done very little
as governor to advance the state’s
fight against Yucca Mountain,” Jon
Summers, Reid’s spokesman, said.
