What Are Principle of Levers?

Lever is a simple machine. A simple machine is a device that makes work easier. Levers turns about a fixed point called the fulcrum (F) when a force called the effort (E) is applied to overcome a resisting force known as the load (L).

There are 3 types of levers, they are:-

First Class Lever

The first class lever is indicated by the fulcrum placed between the effort and the load. The effort and load act in opposite directions from the fulcrum. When the distance of effort from the fulcrum, a small force is used to move a large load. When the distance of load from the fulcrum is greater than the distance of effort from the fulcrum, a large force is used to move a small load. Examples of first class levers are:-

Second Class Lever

In the second class lever, the load is between the fulcrum and the efford. The load acts in opposite direction with the effort. The turning effect of the effort increases when the distance of effort from the fulcrum is greater than the distance of load from the fulcrum.A large force is produced to overcome a large load. Examples of second class levers are:-

Third Class Lever

In the third class lever, the effort is between the fulcrum and the load. The load moves a longer distance, but the effort moves a shorter distance. A large force is applied to move a small load. A small movement produces a large movement. Examples of third class levers are:-

Materials used to make my projects. Stick As the handle for my project and the one that apply the principle of lever A plastic bag To carry the load String To attach the plastic to the stick Items To act as the load inside the plastic bag

Steps: 1. Tie a knot using the string around the stick 2. Tie a knot to the plastic bag using the other end of the string

SKETCH

Explanation A lever requires a load, fulcrum and effort. My project has them. When you hold the stick, it acts as the effort. The knot on the stick and the plastic acts as the fulcrum. The items inside the plastic acts as the load. The fulcrum is in the middle between the effort and load. Therefore, my project is a first-class lever that is used to hold and carry items inside a plastic bag using a stick so that it is easier to carry.
