A completely new concept for liquid chilling units has been designed based on innovative centrifugal compressor technology. By combining up to six modular, highperformance, centrifugal compressors, a cooling capacity between 3001,800 kW can be reached. This new centrifugal compressor technology ensures optimal construction and operation. QUANTUM offers the following benefits: quiet as a whisper operates oil-free superb cost-effectiveness even under partial load extremely low start-up current non-contact bearings Due to the use of magnetic bearings, the innovative centrifugal compressor is equipped with non-contact bearings. The unit operates completely oil-free. Noise level during operation is extremely low. Depending on the requirements at the installation site, sound dampening is not necessary. There is no wear on the turning parts; therefore, no need for bearing or oil changes. The cost-effectiveness of the cooling unit is due to the variable speed control which, especially during partial load, is well above that of units using screw or piston compressors. This results in an outstanding COP (cooling operating figures) at the point of operation, especially under partial load. During the start-up phase, the gradual start limits the current requirements to below 5 amperes. There is no need for protection against electrical peak loads.
