ACTYVITY1

1.Why is waste separated into different plastics always likely to be more valuable and more useful than waste which remains mixed? Because the objective of recycling is to reuse materials and should be more expensive and more useful. 2.Why are dark plastics separated from clear plastics-even though they are made from the same materials? Because when you recycling ,dark plastics serves to dark materials and clear plastics can be use for clear materials. 3.Have a look at home at the plastics packing materials in the kitchen or bathroom. Look for the code number stamped on the bottom or inside of a container. Make a table showing wich plastics are used for wich purposes. Champoo-HDPE/Gomina-PET/Cream-PP/BleachDPE/Cologne-PET. 4.Make a careful note of where two different plastics are used in the same item e.g for a lid and a container. Why are different types selected? 1GARDEN GLOVES: -one part of plastics is were thick for you dont cut your fingers. and the other is used thin. 2TIRE:-The plastic part thod is outside is were resistant than inside part because it resits all the skewers.

ACTIVITY2
1.The density of polypropene is 0.91 g/cm3. What density would a liquid need to make sure that the polypropene floated and the polystyrene sank? The density would have to have the liquid will be between 0.91 g/cm3 and 1.05 g/cm3 for the polypropene float and the polysterene sink . For example 1 g/cm3 2.PET has density of 1.55 g/cm3.What density would a liquid need to be if it was to separate PET from polystyrene? Should have a density between 1.35g/cm3 and 1.05g/cm3 less the PET sink and the polystyrene float. 3.Ease of separation of plastics materials is now being taken into account at the desing stage. What recommendations about desing rules would you make?.Think about densities , colour , inks and labels. For plastics containers used in food , plastics can parent should be toxic , the colour of the packing should facility the presentation food and the containers should be easy to remove are from the container.

4. Recycling makes a lot of sense, but only if demand for recycled materials matches the supply. If demand is much less than the supply, what will happen to _The price paid for the recycled material-add _The amount of recycled material in sterenge-it decrease _The cost of the process-add _The probability of the process-it decrease

5. If there is a large difference between supply and demand, the amount of waste being collected will have to be reduced. What effect might this have on public opinion and on the wisdom of recycling? In public opinion would be bad because the lower quality materials every time, but in recycling, good, because it would be cheaper and healthier. ACTIVITY 3 1. Summarize these processes in a flow diagram. Make sure that you distinguish between the different stages, and between the usefulness of the four end-products. Collection-selection-processes: -pyrelysis -hydrogen -gasification -ehomolysis Obtaining the material: original plastic 2. Other factors do we need to take into account before we can know whether processes such as these are actually of benefit? Think of the costs involved. For if contaminated or spent were than we produce, if you really increase the recycling or just saving time and the product is not reliable.
