statement of particulars (SOP) and statement of further particulars (SOFP) in
triplicate. The Form – IV should be signed only by the applicant. Copyright is the
right given under the law to the authors or artist or creators of the original literary,
dramatic, musical and artistic works, cinematograph films, and sound recordings.

For each work separate application should be made for registering copyright
under the act. The fee as prescribed under the act should accompany each
application for registration of copyright. The application for the copyright shall be
sent to the Copyright Office, Department of Education, Ministry of Human
Resource Development, B - 2/W - 3, Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturba Ghandhi

The object of the copyright law is to protect the unlawful reproduction of the

be published by the Registrar of Copyrights in the Official Gazette or in such

enter the particulars of the work in the Register.

At the office indexes of register and the register is kept for public at all
reasonable times be open to inspection, and any person shall be entitled to take
copies of, or make extracts from, such register or indexes on payment of such
fee and subject to such conditions as may be prescribed under the act. The
Register of Copyrights shall be prima facie evidence of the particulars entered
therein and documents purporting to be copies of any entries therein, or extracts
there from certified by the Registrar and sealed with the seal of the Office shall
be admissible in evidence in all courts without further proof or production of the
original.
