anu the uelegates of the Constitutional Convention hotly uebateu ovei the size,

factions of people came out of the iatification piocess: the Feueialist anu the Anti-

Anti-Feueialist weie those who opposeu the iatification of the new
Constitution. They believeu that the poweis gianteu to the Feueial uoveinment
weie too stiong anu the lack of a bill of iights, which piotecteu the inuiviuual
citizen, left too much in the hanus of a cential goveinment. Fiameis like Patiick
Beniy, }ames Nonioe anu ueoige Nason began penning letteis that ciiticizeu the
new Constitution. These letteis weie publisheu unuei vaiious pen names anu
pseuuonyms in local newspapeis to biing attention to anu gainei suppoit foi the
