Safety
The rectifier is a system component and the usage intended for installation in restricted access locations (RAL). For DPR 6000B-48 ID:A1 (standard AC version), the AC utility at the transformer in the sub-station must be a star type, where the middle point (N) is connected to ground (refer to Figure 1). This rectifier is not designed to support different grounding architecture in the sub-station (e.g. triangle point grounding according Figure 2). For DPR 6000B-48 ID:B1 (low AC version), the AC utility at the transformer in the substation can be a star type or triangle type. This product version can be applied in utility architectures according to Figure 1 and Figure 2.
Caution! Please consult the utility provider, in case the local grid architecture is not clear.

Functional description
Input voltage range
The rectifier has a defined normal operating input voltage range: 266 ... 528 Vrms 176 ... 276 Vrms DPR 6000B-48 ID:A1 DPR 6000B-48 ID:B1 Standard AC version Low AC version
If the input voltage rises above the maximum input voltage limit, the rectifier switches off. The rectifier has protection against AC mains voltage in the range of 530 550Vrms and higher voltage up to 600Vrms for less than 10 seconds. The rectifier is not working but safe. Exposure to AC overvoltage for greater voltages, or for a longer period, may cause rectifier failure. If the input voltage falls below the nominal input voltage lower limit, the rectifier continues to operate with a lower output power to keep the maximum input current constant at extreme AC voltage fluctuations. If the input voltage falls below the minimum input voltage limit, the rectifier switches off. The rectifier switches on when the input voltage is within the input voltage limits.
Refer to the generic installation manual for power systems for further guidelines about AC overvoltage and transient overvoltage protection. The operating mode of the rectifier during phase failure is configurable on the Orion system controller. As factory default configuration, the rectifier will shut down during the phase failure condition. If the phase is recovering, the rectifier will restart automatically. In case the Orion system controller Two line operation is enabled, the rectifier will continue operation at 50 % (ID:A1) and 33 % (ID:B1) of its nominal power capacity. If the phase is recovering, the rectifier automatically returns to its nominal power capacity.
3.2
Output characteristics
The rectifier has a constant output power characteristic to meet the demand of optimal power supply usage for electronic constant power loads. The result is a constant recharging current to the battery after a mains outage and improved rectifier efficiency.
3.3
Output voltage
An output voltage of 53.5 V is predefined for flooded battery types. If a controller with a voltage programming function is used, the rectifier output voltage can be adjusted. The output voltage range of the rectifier is 42 V to 58 V.
3.4
Output current
The typical factory setting for the output current limit is 125 ADC.
3.5
3.6
Load sharing
The rectifier is equipped with an active load sharing function that ensures an equal load on parallel rectifiers. The function uses the communication interface bus between rectifiers. This function does not require any other external unit outside the rectifiers.
3.7
Cooling
The rectifier uses a fan to force air through it from front to rear.
3.8
Thermal management
The rectifier is protected with nine integrated thermal sensors monitoring the fresh intake air temperature and temperatures at critical components inside the rectifier. Thermal management protects the rectifier against overheating by reducing the output current limit to limit internal temperature, as shown in Figure 6 and Figure 7.
To protect against interrupted air flow and fan failure, the rectifier is shut down as soon as the internal temperature reaches a critical value. If the temperature returns to within normal limits, the rectifier restarts automatically. If the airflow is interrupted or the fan fails, the rectifier protects itself against overheating and recognizes three unsuccessful restart attempts within a short period. In that case, the rectifier remains shut down and generates an alarm. Removing the rectifier for approximately two seconds from the system resets the rectifier after a latched OTP shutdown. Depending on the permissions, the OTP reset can also be done via an Orion controller.

Configuration
Upon installation to a system with an Orion controller, the rectifier is automatically configured according to the application settings. In systems without a controller, the rectifier operates with the factory-set standard configuration. Some special system functionalities with Orion require an acknowledge process of the rectifier. In such a case the user will be guided by Orion to press the Config button on the front of the rectifier.
