Thetoolsneededtobuildqualityaffordablehomesforour communitiesarerapidlyvanishing!Withresourcesdryingup,thegoal ofincreasingtheselfsufficiencyofallSacramentansisbecoming increasinglydifficult. Recently,thestateeliminatedourmajorlocalfundingsourcefor buildingaffordablehomes.Also,SacramentoCountysrequirement that15%ofallnewdevelopmentsincludeaffordablehomesisonthe choppingblock.Homeswithsupportiveservicesforpeoplewith disabilitiesandthosewhoarehomelessarenolongerbeingbuilt. Affordablehomesofferlowincomeindividualsandfamilies opportunitiestoaccesssafeandqualityplacestolive,sleep,eat,learn andplay.However,everydaywelearnthatmoreofthefundingand toolsusedtobuildaffordablehomesaredisappearing. Asrentscontinuetorise,wemustholdourelectedleadersaccountable toensurethatsafeandaffordablehomesarebuilt forresidentsofallincomelevels.
