GREETINGS- 1961
We Are Thankful
all, for having spared our lives and making it possible for us to spend this year with our many friends in Christ throughout America! What a joy and blessing this year has been, as we were united with
loved ones and with wonderful Christian
Besides all of these reasons for being thankful, we are also thankful for the many
"little things!" For example, I thought it was simple wonderful to walk into a supermarket and just look around at all of the lovely things on sale so different from Germany! Cake
mixes, canned foods, water melons, sweet potatoes. . . all of the things that we couldn't get over there! And to think, too, that the labels were all written in English! There were no jawbreakers like rindfleischsuppe (beef soup), kartofein (potatoes), wienerschnitzeln (veal cutlet). Time certainly goes fast, and already, we are half way through our furlough time! We are trying to use it wisely, as weprepareourselves
for our second term on the mission field.
what a joy it is just to be able to sing hymns and hear the preaching in our own language! Secondly, we are thankful for all of the interest, prayers and support of Christians in America and for the sacrifices they are making
to makeourwork in Germany possible! Believe
me, youare always in our hearts and constantly in our prayers! May God bless you richly, as you share in our work with the German people!
Third, we are thankful for the freedom that

labor.,5^
TODAY We are home on furlough with a twofold purpose! First, it is necessary to raise additional support, since the work has out grown our present mission budget! Second,
we must recruit workers to return with us to
coming home, we had cut more than 200 sten cils of our sermons to bring homewith us; had taped our sermons in advance through Octo

our broadcast is available to more than 100-

opened unto us. On my desk before me is a letter which 1 have received from Radio Buenos Aires In Argentina, offering us radio time for a 15-

seeking direct-support churches that will be interested In underwriting this work.
Our connection with this work would be

return to Germany to begin our second term on the field, we hope to have several missionary
recruits with us to establish local congrego-
congregations. We would be glad to cooperate with him, and supply him with the names of our correspondents. We have this opportunity NOW! To delay it maybe eternally TOO LATE!
CHANGES OF ADDRESS
Thus, we plan to establish local churches, using our interested listeners as a nucleus on which to build, giving the work over then to the missionary recruits. We hope to con tinue in the radio broadcasting just as long as funds permit, and as long as we are receiv*
