! When the subject of the photograph is looking at the

camera it is called - direct address.! relates to the main image.!

! Anchoring text is the term which refers to the text that ! Often the font for the price is small because the

USES AND GRATIFICATIONS THEORY

! Information! ! Social interaction! ! Personal identity! ! Diversion/entertainment!

ANSWERS 2!
! The main image obscuring the

masthead suggests a number of things - the familiarity of the target audience with the magazine, they can recognise it without needing to see the whole title; that the 'star' on the front is of very high status and more of a pull than the magazine itself; layout needs which mean it would look wrong if the face didn't obscure the masthead.!

ANSWERS 3!
! The left hand third of the magazine is

the left side of the magazine where often we find cover lines, the masthead, logos, puff and even cover-mounts. It is important because in general, magazines are displayed in shops with the left hand third protruding slightly and this allows the potential buyer a quick view of the content without the need to pull it out and flick through. It is vital in targeting the ideal readership of magazines bought from retail outlets. Not so relevant for subscription magazines.!

growing number of the readership are choosing to read using electronic devices, tablets, smartphones, ereaders. Having a web presence is vital to maximise the advertising revenue.!
