E d m o n t o n , A B - One of the common complaints Greg Kopchuk hears from business owners is that they cant find the right people to hire. On several occasions, they say that they will book time to interview candidates and they wont show up or call to say they wont be there. When they do show up they expect to be hired on the spot at outlandish wages. Why does this happen? Kopchuk, of ActionCOACH Business coaching, works with small and established businesses across Canada and hes seeing a bad trend emerging when it comes to hiring practices and mismanagement. He says, You constantly see articles on tips for job seekers. N o t i p s are going to help prospective job seekers if the employers cant manage their hiring systems properly. A r e a s t ha t b u s i n e s s e s a r e fa i li ng i n hi r in g p r a c ti c e s i nc lu d e Not Not Not Not Not Not Not having a prospect fill out a proper application for the position being organized with an intake process for collecting resumes assigning a person to co-ordinate phone calls for booking interviews Communicating clear wage expectations returning follow up phone calls from interested job seekers checking references; when is the last time someone called you to check on an employee? completing proper training for new hires, resulting in many dropping out before completion

All of these areas can be fixed immediately by taking out the N O T and changing them to Y E S we will do these things.. With the C h r i s t m a s s e a s o n workers being hired business owners have to be organized and hold their end up when it comes to call-backs, booking proper interviews, calling references and treating the prospects with respect, Kopchuk says. As a business coach Kopchuk understands the constraints budgets have on full time hiring, but ALL prospective employees need to know that the company they want to work for is looking out for them. Why should prospective employees show up for interviews when this is how they are treated? Greg Kopchuk and the ActionCOACH team are business leaders who are making a difference in the lives of business owners and entrepreneurs in their communities.
