Disassembly Instructions For Recyclers
Certain materials should be removed and given differential
treatment in accordance with local and federal regulations at
end-of-life. These include (but are not limited to) PCBs, cables,
batteries, LCD panels, and hazardous metals such as mercury.
This Disassembly Guide shows the common tools required and
general approach for removing these materials from LCD
monitors.
The following procedures are covered in this manual:
Removing the stand and front bezel
Removing the LCD panel
Removing the inverter and brackets from the LCD panel
Removing the circuit boards from the monitor back
Important
The photographs and steps in this guide may vary somewhat from monitor to monitor.

Removing the stand and front bezel
Tools you need to complete this task
Removing the stand and front bezel
To remove the stand and front bezel:
1 Lay the monitor face down, then remove the screws that connect the monitor hinge to
the monitor back. In the following example, there is one screw.
2 Remove the stand.
3 Remove the screws that connect the front bezel to the monitor back. In the following
example, there is one screw in each of the lower corners.
4 Turn the monitor over so the screen is facing up.
Flat-blade driver Scribe or non-marring tool - OR -
Phillips #0 screwdriver

5 Use the flat blade screwdriver or scribe to separate the front bezel from the monitor.
6 Lay the bezel so the inside is facing up.
7 Remove any circuit boards that may be connected to the bezel.
Warning
Use care when separating the two halves. The screwdriver or scribe may
slip and cause injury.

Removing the LCD panel
Tools you need to complete this task
Removing the LCD panel
To remove the LCD panel:
1 Remove the screws that connect the LCD panel to the monitor back. In the following
example, there is one screw in each of the four corners.

2 While holding the LCD panel away from the monitor back, disconnect or cut any cables
going from the LCD panel to the circuit board.
The LCD panel should be separated from the monitor back.

Removing the inverter and brackets from the LCD
panel
Tools you need to complete this task
Reclaimable parts
Circuit (inverter) board
LCD screen
Cables
Metal brackets
Removing the inverter and brackets from the LCD panel
To remove the inverter and brackets from the LCD panel:
1 Remove the screws that connect the LCD panel to the side brackets (if any). In the following
example, there are two screws on each side.
2 Remove the side brackets.
Flat-blade driver Scribe or non-marring tool - OR -
Phillips #0 screwdriver

3 Remove the screws that connect the LCD panel to the top bracket. In the following example,
there are three screws.
4 Remove the top bracket. The inverter is behind this bracket.
5 Remove any tape or glue that connects the inverter to the back of the LCD panel. You may
need to break the glue with a screwdriver or scribe.
The inverter should be separated from the LCD panel.
6 Remove any additional cabling or wire bundles from the LCD panel.

Removing the circuit boards from the monitor
back
Tools you need to complete this task

Metal tray
Removing the circuit boards from the monitor back
To remove the circuit boards from the monitor back:
1 Lay the monitor face down, then remove the screws that connect the circuit board tray
(if present) to the monitor back. In the following example, there are four screws.
2 Turn the monitor over so the front is facing up.
Phillips #0 screwdriver

3 Remove any circuit boards that may be connected to the monitor back.
4 Remove the screws that connect the circuit board tray cover (if present) to the monitor
back. In the following example, there are eight screws.
5 Remove the circuit board tray cover.

6 Remove the screws that connect the circuit board tray to the monitor back. In the following
example, there are five screws.
7 Remove the circuit board tray.
8 Remove the screws that connect the top circuit board to the circuit board tray. In the
following example, there are four screws holding the top circuit board into the tray.
9 Remove any cables connected to the top and bottom circuit boards.

10 Remove the screws that connect the bottom circuit board to the circuit board tray. In the
following example, there are three screws holding the bottom circuit board into the tray.
