Like all musicians, Ive lugged amps up plenty of stairways, had to perform on cramped stages, been hindered with inadequate power, and been frustrated with unreliable gear. Gallien-Krueger is largely a response to these life experiences. Being a Stanford educated engineer who worked his way through school as a musician, I understand these problems. As Gallien-Kruegers director and principal innovator, I have always strived to design and build amplifiers that meet the real needs of working bass players: practical, reliable, portable, powerful, affordable, and most importantly, producing the sound and the response players need to make their best music. I am proud of the reputation GK enjoys in the bass world. I am also proud of the many ways weve improved our amps over the years. GK has been focused on, and will always be focused on, creating real, substantive, innovative design refinements that yield improved sound, power, reliability, and functionality. Many players want a little growl in their sound, but due to horn distortion, it is hard to get good sounding overdrive from passive full-range systems. The 700RB-II, 1001RB-II, and 2001RB are bi-amped with a separate 50W amp for driving the horn, so it doesnt distort when you drive the amp hard. As a result, you can get all the growl you want from your lower speakers, while the horn stays clean and articulate. GK amplifiers have the horn control on the amp front panel, which makes managing your overall sound that much easier.

2001RB Dual Bi-amp

Its the big gun, GKs candidate for the ultimate stage rig! This unit is based on the bi-amp system from the 1001RB but with dual 540W woofer amps bridgeable to 1080W, two 50W horn amps, and two continuously variable speed fans for cooling. It gets the deep, floor-shaking, warm sound that powers reggae bands. For rock players, it features a special design distortion circuit that lets you quickly dial in the perfect growl and drive. For funk players, its voicing filters and bi-amp controls let you scoop the mids and add the perfect high-end edge needed for popping. For any style of music performed on arena stages, the 2001RB is destined to be the premier amp of choice.

2001RB Distortion Circuit

The secret to the 2001RBs smooth natural distortion is that the horn amp is automatically muted when the high gain channel is activated, thus preventing any raspy distortion from the horns. The horn amps can also be muted on the low gain channel as needed for certain blues sounds. Such horn muting is only possible with a bi-amp system, and only the 2001RB has this circuitry design. Easy on-stage control is provided by a three button footswitch, which mutes the horns, selects channel A or B, and also activates the tuning mute.

An 8-bit microprocessor constantly monitors the 2001RB system, making sure everything is running correctly. It waits patiently for you to push the power switch, and then sends a signal to your other GK power amps to turn them on in proper order. Artists such as Flea and Tom Hamilton use up to five heads, and with the 2001RB, they only push one switch to fire up their entire system.

The 400RB-IV is our Artist Series entry level head, but with an efficient 280 watts, its a powerhouse. These horn-loaded Artist Series RBH Cabinets are designed to perfectly match the 700RB-II, 1001RB-II, and the 2001RB, as well as to fully use all the power and features these heads and combos deliver. They are carpet covered, front ported, and equipped with massive custom corners, 16 gauge steel grills, nickel plated casters, and rugged all-birch construction. Interlocking corners allow these cabinets to be played upright, rocked back, or stacked on their sides for the ultimate gig rig. It begins with the transformer. We use toroids. Although they cost more, they dont induce hum into pickups. They are lightweight and really pack a punch. To generate the tremendous currents needed for cone control at high volume levels, we use extra output devices and sophisticated SOA protection circuits. These too are more costly, but result in up to ten times more current than other comparable amps deliver. So, when you really need to lean on it, a GK amp will deliver extreme power...effortlessly.

The Classic Series SBX cabinets are designed as more affordable cabinets for extension use with the 400RB-IV and 800RB heads. An added benefit of the 410SBX cabinet is that it alone, in the SBX Series, pairs-up perfectly with the 700RB-II. Bi-amp two 410SBX cabinets to your 700RB-II and you are set. The Backline Combo puts the GK sound in its most affordable package ever, making it accessible to many more players! The Backline combos carry on the legacy of the GK product line. The Backline 210 and 115 are essentially the 400RB-IV design with the 2001RB distortion circuit. The Backline 112 and Backline 110 are scaled down versions of the Backline 115. These two combos feature the same distortion circuit as the Backline 115, a three band active EQ, and a switchable contour control. With these features, you can get the same natural sustain and growl from the Backline combos as the touring bands get from their 2001RBs. These Backline combos have ample sound output to handle full-volume jams and performances in smaller venues with ease. They also feature the same tilt-back cabinet design and road worthy construction as the RB combos.

GKs first foot pedal! Circuitry from the 2001RB high gain channel provides the foundation upon which this pedal is based. It is the only distortion/sustain pedal created specifically for bass and the only one designed and manufactured by a bass amp company. It features Gain, Bass, Mid, and Treble (Edge) input controls, and output Level controls. It has a rugged aluminum and steel casing, and is powered by a 9V battery (included) or a 9V wall supply (not included). It will give any bass a great sustain sound, and one approaching that of the ultimate 2001RB when used with other GK heads. These sounds are being used more and more by bassists. The DieselDawg offers them an affordable way to add high-quality distortion and sustain to any rig.

RFB-III Footswitch
Included in the 2001RB but also available for replacement. This stage performance essential is used to mute the horn, select channels, and to activate the tuning mute. The footswitch is made of heavy gauge steel (16 gauge bottom) and aluminum (10 gauge top cover). The unit comes with one 15ft., standard five-pin DIN cable.

RF-II Footswitch
This GK footswitch is used to activate the Tuning Mute and the Boost Switch on your GK bass amp or CH. A/B and Effects On/Off on older GK guitar amps. The Footswitch is made of heavy 16 gauge steel. The unit comes with one 15ft., 1/4 to 1.4 stereo cable.
