Closing Statement We are here tonight due to the terrible events that occurred at Rosewood High School on the

morning of March 27, 2013. On that morning, an intoxicated individual by the name of Jason Johnson collapsed during band practice, being carried away by paramedics and dying before arrival to the hospital. Our defendant, Ms. Rae Concha, had to witness her best friend be carried out by paramedics, unaware of what had caused his collapse. The Principal Riley McAlister was informed of Jasons death, and asked undercover cop Robin Doherty to find out who was responsible. Alex Weaver informed Principal McAlister that our defendant was the one who gave Jason the Adderall, and with this alone, Rae was pulled out of class, taken to her SUV, and arrested for second degree murder of her best friend and bandmate, as well as possession with the intent to sell a controlled substance, her prescription Adderall. Today, you have heard from two expert doctors, Dr. Ricki Sanchez and Dr. Casey Burke. Dr. Sanchez claims that the Adderall in Jasons system caused his death, while Dr. Burke points to the alcohol intoxication. (Both doctors even agree Jasons case of HCM may have killed him alone). Both (all three) seem reasonable, with no clear conclusion as to what killed Jason Johnson. When we have multiple reasonable explanations, we must choose the one that points to innocence. We have also heard from the band director, Avery Perkins. Being the band director for ten years, Avery Perkins knows his students well. He disclosed how Rae has been a great kid and great musician for as long as he has had her. He also revealed how Alex Weaver was always slacking off, missing assignments, and doing unusual acts such as waving around wads of cash. The director of the charity group Achieve also testified to the character of Rae, explaining how Rae helped other teens by counseling on alcohol and drug abuse. She goes on to tell how our defendant would do anything to help out, such as getting supplies when they ran low. From what you have heard tonight, would these traits seem to be the traits of a drug dealer? Our client legally had a prescription for Adderall in order to battle her ADHD. Our client was dear friends with Jason since middle school, being in a band both after and during school together. The prosecution has the burden of proof, and they have failed to accomplish proving Rae Concha beyond a reasonable doubt of the charges being accused. The only one to claim seeing our defendant sell drugs is Alex Weaver, who has been expelled from high school before, who has done illegal activities such as taking Adderall, and who has been known to be mischievous and unreliable. Ms. Rae Concha is not responsible for the death of Jason Johnson, nor the distribution of drugs around campus
