Global Warming

For the past 50 year’s the global temperature has been increasing at a rate of 1ºF-
3ºF every five year’s. This is known as global warming. It’s happens due to human
activities. There are few causes, effects and solutions for this problem.
The first cause of global warming is deforestation. Deforestation is the process of
land clearing which is many trees are being cleared from a large area. It happens due to
human activities such as industrialization and development. As more forests are being
cleared and tree’s being cut down, there will be an increase in the percentage of carbon
dioxide gas in our atmosphere; leading to greenhouse effect.
Another cause that contributes to global warming is the greenhouse effect.
Greenhouse effect is the natural warming of earth lower atmosphere caused by
greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (co2). It forms a layer at the atmosphere that
acts like a “thermal blanket” trapping heat and warming the earth. However, excessive
amount of carbon dioxide will cause more heat to be trapped at the lower atmosphere.
This will eventually affect the world’s temperature, whereby there will be a rise in global
temperature; leading to global warming.
The third cause that leads to global warming is ozone depletion. Ozone layer is a
layer of the chemical ozone present in the atmosphere, protecting the Earth from ultra-
violet (UV) radiation. Meanwhile, ozone depletion happens when the chlorine atoms
react with ozone, breaking it down into ordinary oxygen molecules that do not absorb
ultra-violet (UV) rays. Indirectly, it increases the heat and temperature of the Earth.
The are few impacts from global warming. The first impact of global warming is
the sea level will rise. This is because as the global temperature becomes higher, it will
eventually melt the glaziers and polar ice. This will cause the sea level to rise. Not only
that, it will cause flood on low lying islands nations and also can occur.
Beside, the extinction of plants and animals is also another effect of global
warming. When the global temperature increases drastically, some plants and animals
might not be able to adapt to the new high temperature. This will cause them to die and
later on extinct. Moreover, marine organisms also will be affected as the water’s
temperature also increases. As consequence, it will affect the ecosystem and biodiversity.
Therefore, some preventive measures should be taken in order to overcome this
problem. One of the measure that should be taken is government should held campaign.
This campaign should be regarding the importance of environment and global warming.
This can help to create an awareness towards the people. Moreover, government should
impose a rule which is each person should plant a plant monthly in order to ‘green’ the
world.
Moreover, the government also should do sustainable development. We cannot
stop development as it is one of the ways to improve and develop the standards of living
for all people. Yet, we should go for sustainable development, which is planned
development continued without damage to the environment. For example, more
apartments should be builds instead of terrace houses in order to reduce deforestation or
land clearing.
It is clear that, global warming will be affecting mankind. Thus, it is our
responsibility to overcome this problem, and not worsening it.
