JKH spearheaded daily turnover: John keels Holdings spearheaded the daily turnover supported by two off-board transactions which amounted to 770k shares which changed hands at LKR205.5. On-board interest on NEST and LIOC: Nestle Lanka witnessed considerable on-board interest backed by a single on-board block of 16k shares at LKR1950.0. The counter settled at LKR1950.0 with an intra-day gain of 0.6%. The value counter Lanka IOC too denoted notable on-board activity with the reporting of sound financial results today. The counter displayed a notable intraday rally and ended at LKR28.8 with a gain of 8.7%.
Moderate retail activity: Retail investor interest was low and concentrated on Lanka Century Investments, Three Acre Farms and Touchwood investments.

Sri Lanka's NDB plans Rs10bn debt sale Sri Lanka's National Development Bank said it was planning a junior debt sale of up to 10 billion rupees. The bank wanted to sell 5.0 billion rupees in unsecured subordinated redeemable debt with an option to sell a further 5.0 billion rupees. There has been a spate of listed debt issues this year due to tax breaks. NDB was earlier expected to go for an overseas debt sale. [Source: www.lbo.lk] Sri Lanka Treasuries yields ease Sri Lanka's Treasuries yields eased at Wednesday's auction with the 12-month yield down 3 basis points to 9.79 percent, data from the state debt office showed. The 6-month yield was down 5 basis points to 8.89 percent. There were no sales of 3-month bills. The debt office said 415 million rupees of 6-month bills and 11.2 billion rupees of 12-month bills totaling 11.6 billion rupees were sold after offering 7.0 billion rupees of bills for the auction. Rising income in Asia was creating a greater demand for leisure and luxury goods, Packer told a Commonwealth Business Forum in Colombo. In 2000, 4 million Indians had travelled abroad. The UN World Tourism Organization had estimated that the Indian outbound market would reach 50 million by 2020 giving opportunities for her neighbors. Emerging-Market Banks Threatened by End of Credit Boom The worlds largest emerging markets recovered quickly from the 2008 financial crisis because consumers and companies went on a borrowing binge. Now that credit spree is coming back to haunt banks in those countries. As economies cool, delinquent loans are rising from Turkey to South Africa. India is injecting money into state-run lenders facing a surge in soured debt, while Chinese banks have been told to increase provisions for the same reason. [Source: www.bloomberg.com] UK jobless total falls by 48,000 and rate drops to 7.6% The number of unemployed people in the UK fell by 48,000 to 2.47 million between July and September, the Office for National Statistics has said. The unemployment rate fell to 7.6%, the lowest rate in more than three years. The Bank of England has said it will not consider raising interest rates from their record low of 0.5% until the unemployment rate falls below 7%. The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance fell by 41,700 to 1.31 million in October.
