THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

This week I ran across a poem that is attributed to Mother Theresa. The words were written on a wall in her place for children in Calcutta, India. I hope you enjoy. o People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. o If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. o If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. o If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. o What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. o If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. o The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. o Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. o In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. As I read that, I felt one scripture in particular comes to mind. Paul shared it with the church at Colosse. He wrote: And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:17). Oh church, even when we dont feel like doing the right thing anymore, do it anyway for we represent the Lord Jesus Christ to the rest of His creation. In His Service, Brad Seevers

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

On November 24, we will be having our annual All Church Thanksgiving Dinner. On December 1, I plan to present the final to study in our current series, Reaching the Immoral One (Luke 7:36-50). On December 8, I will launch a new series titled, Meet The Prophets Please be reminded that we have activities for children at this same hour each Sunday evening. Communion is available for those who desire it.

WEDNESDAY STUDIES: Our midweek Bible study groups WILL NOT be meeting on November 20 or 27. We will resume our current series, A Brief Survey Of Old Testament History on December 4. We are utilizing a study outline. Why not come join us? FINAL THOUGHT: Gossips are like blotters they absorb a lot of dirt, but usually get it backwards.

Christmas Poinsettias
Orders for red or white Christmas poinsettias will be taken in the parlor today, November 24th, and December 1st. The cost is $6 each and must be paid for at the time of ordering.

Last week in children's church we learned about how important out words are. Words can hurt people or help people! It all depends on how we chose to use them. Encourage your family this week to use your words as encouragement to each other. Proverbs 12:18 "The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

As we remember the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's assassination, our book for November is Bill O'Reilly's bestselling Killing Kennedy. It reads like a novel, but it's packed with truth and action. Even if you lived through the event or have heard the story told dozens of times over the years, you'll learn something you didn't know about this tragedy that changed our nation forever. Be with us at the Book Nook on Monday, November 25, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the book and share our memories.

A congregational meeting will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 following each morning worship hour to elect officers and approve the budget for 2014.

Servant-Minded Volunteer/ Volunteers Needed!

There are two areas of service in the church that are in need of a leader. One position is to take responsibility for decorating the church at Christmas and Easter. We all enjoy these special times of the year and your help would bring great joy to all. Also, in order to continue with the tradition of live flowers in the sanctuary during Christmas and Easter, we are in need of a volunteer or volunteers to take responsibility for this ministry. The task includes taking orders, collecting funds and arranging for delivery to the church. The sanctuary always looks lovely with flowers; however, we will not be able to continue if we dont have someone to take on this task. If this sounds like something you would like to do, please contact Julie Stuck at 6542409 or e-mail at fjstuck@sbcglobl.net as soon as possible.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
