GRADUATE SCHOOL OFEDUCATION EDUC 500 ADVANCEDEDUCATIONALPSYCHOLOGY COURSEDESCRIPTION Anoverviewofthecontributionsofpsychologytotheteachinglearningprocess.Topicsinclude learningtheory,individualdifferences,motivation,humandevelopment,exceptionalities,teaching methodology,measurementandevaluation. RATIONALE Thepurposeofthiscourseistoprepareteachersinareasasresearch,uptodatetheories,and classroomtestedapplications. Educationalpsychologyequipsteacherstothinkabouthow students learnatvariouslevelsofdevelopment,tomakedecisionsbeforeandduringinstruction,andto considerwhatconstitutesevidencethattheirstudentsarelearningandsucceeding. Apersonal reflectionwillprovideanunderstandingofthebehaviorandthinkingofonesself,aswellasothers, andwillbecomeaneffectivetoolforintrapersonalandinterpersonalChristiangrowththroughthe lifelonglearningprocess. ParkersStudySkillsInventory(SSI) Thisisatwopartassignment.Thestudentwilltaketheinventorytesttwotimes,the firsttimeinModule1,andthesecondtimeinModule8.Aftertakingtheinventorythe firsttime,thestudentwillreacttotheresultsbyansweringafewquestionsaftereach studyskill.Aftertakingtheinventorythesecondtime,thestudentwill reflectonstudy skillsbycomparingthescoresofthefirstandsecond timestakingtheinventory.

Reading&ResearchJournalLogwithAnnotatedBibliography Thestudentwillkeeptrackofhisorherreadingthroughoutthecourseinachartformat, includingthetitleofthearticleorbookread,dateread,andnumberofpagesread.In ordertoreceiveanA,thestudentmustreadatleast400pages.Theassignmentis flexibleinthechoiceofreadingsandwritings:thestudentcan choosethebooks,journals,and/orarticlesaslongastheyreflectcoursecontent. EducationReflectionPaper ThestudentwillcompileinformationfromthePLSP,PPMLP,andPSSIaswellas describethreeexperiencesthatledhimorherintothefieldofeducationanda discussionofdifferentiatedlearningandinstructionrelatedtoaspecificareaof educationalpsychologytowriteanAPAstyle,15pagepaper.Thepapermustinclude 1015current,authoritativeandpracticalreferencesandmustbe submittednolaterthanSundaynightofModule8.
