INTERFACE 2013

ENGINEERING THE FUTURE ONE DAY. ONE GOAL. ONE CHAMPION.

One Day [11.16.13] The Ateneo Electronics and Computer Engineering Society takes up a bigger leap this year as it assembles all ECE and COE students from different universities in Luzon for just a day jam-packed with engineering-related talks, exhibits and many more at the Ateneo de Manila University.

One Goal: Engineer the Future Interface 2013 would be an avenue for technological awareness, advancement and exposure prolific to the humanitys needs to suit the future engineers of the society, established through a strengthened relationship amongst students coming from different perspectives. A big privilege will be accessible to interact with trained professionals in different industries and hone communication expertise amongst other delegates. The event will bridge the ever-widening gap amongst the youth of this generation towards the sole purpose of serving the nation.

One Champion: Survival of the Fittest Interface 2013 will also cater and test the delegates technical expertise through various fun-filled activities incorporating their engineering knowledge and innovative ideas. The event also highlights camaraderie and rapport amongst the delegates. One group from each category will eventually rise and be declared as champion.

Each school will be given an invitation and the event primer through e-mail or snail mail that requests for their participation in the event. Each participating team will register as one of the following: i. MISSION NABLA GROUP : (Fee: P 2,000.00) Three (3) college participants and one (1) coach. College participants should be currently enrolled in BS Electronics and Communications Engineering or BS Computer Engineering course. Each group will have a choice of a program package (4 talks + 1 campus tour); lunch and snacks; Interface 2013 tokens; pass to compete in Mission Nabla; and share in the prize pool. ii. PROJECT DELTA GROUP : (Fee: P 1,000.00) Option 1: Two (2) high school students and one (1) coach/ chaperon Option 2: Three (3) high school students Each group will have a choice of a program package (5 talks + 1 campus tour); lunch and snacks; Interface 2013 kit and tokens; pass to compete in Project Delta; and share in the prize pool. iii. DELEGATES PASS : (Fee: P 250.00) Open to: College participants with at least two (2) competing teams for Mission Nabla College participants in groups of three (3) students and 1 coach High school participants with at least one (1) competing team for Project Delta Members of the Ateneo Electronics and Computer Engineering Society with th priority for 5 year students Professionals and enthusiasts from the industry/ academe with fields related to Engineering/ Science, Technology and Innovation/ Information and Communication Technology Inclusive of a choice of morning program package (3 talks + 1 campus tour); an afternoon conference and Project Delta presentation; lunch and snacks; and Interface 2013 kit and tokens Each participating school/ organization is required to ac complish the following forms and have it emailed to ateneo.interface2013@gmail.com on or before November 9, 2013. Bank payment: 1. Details regarding on which bank and account number would be used for payments will be announced by the event organizers by November 4, 2013. 2. This payment shall serve as your CONFIRMATION in joining the event. 3. As proof, the team/s is/are required to submit a scanned copy of the deposit slip and an image file (JPEG or any) of participants valid school ID to be e-mailed to ateneo.interface2013@gmail.com a week after the deposit has been made. In the body of the email, also specify the time and date of transaction. Subject of email: Name of School/Branch of bank/Amount E.g. AdMU/BDO Katipunan/ 2,000.00 Also, kindly attach in your email the accomplished registration form. 4. Consequently, after receiving the e-mail the organizers will either e-mail or send a text message to the contestant/participant upon receiving the amount from the bank. 5. Kindly secure your deposit slips to be presented in the actual registration of the event. 6. Again, the deadline for depositing the amount (likewise confirm ing the teams participation) is on November 14, 2013, 11:59PM .

Guidelines before the event


i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. The registration period during the day itself is scheduled from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The event officially starts at 8:00 AM. The delegates must be in the event venue at least 15 minutes before the official start of the event. Arriving later than 20 minutes after the registration period is enough grounds for disqualification, as late arrivals will delay the course of the whole event. The school must register and sign their names on the registration table placed in front of the venue for attendance purposes. Late payments shall be given to the registration staff before the event starts.

Inappropriate actions and behaviors during the event will NOT be tolerated by the organizers, and appropriate measures will be implemented. ii. The event would start at 8:00 AM and end at 6:30 PM.

Other guidelines
Participants can wear anything they want as long as it is decent. They are not required to wear their school uniforms but must have their school IDs with them. The following is a list of garments that are not allowed in the event. Slippers Spaghetti straps, tubes, and backless tops for females. Sandos and sleeveless shirts for males. Short shorts and micro-mini skirts for females. Any type of shorts would be fine for males. We highly suggest that each team bring an extra set of clothes, water, and face towels. Food Guidelines The registration fee is inclusive of 1 lunch meal per participant, including coaches. Please inform the organizers for any special diet and/or food allergies.

A. General Mechanics for Mission Nabla a. Teams will be grouped according to their registered team. This registered team will be officially called Race Teams. It will consist of three members per team a s depicted in the registration form. b. Each team will be accompanied by an AECES certified usher who will guide them throughout the race proper. c. Teams are tasked to complete stations that are scattered in the campus and will be provided with a station map as a guide. d. There will be a total of 25 stations. Each station would have its own unique challenge with certain points. Difficulty may vary in every station wherein larger points may be rewarded. e. The allotted time for the entire race 3 hours. After the 3 hour limit, the race will end, and no points will be awarded after. Teams will be asked to go back to the main venue. f. After the 3 hour time limit, team ushers will be asked to submit the final score tally along with the list of members for their team. g. The point system for Mission Nabla will be discussed in the event proper. B. Stations a. Stations are stops in the Mission Nabla where teams are tasked to complete a challenge. b. Stations are manned by at least one station manager who will serve as the guide and judge of the particular station. c. Upon arrival on a station, teams are given a teaser of the station challenge and the option to proceed with the challenge or pass temporarily. d. Stations are categorized in two: i. Academic-related stations Mathematics Chemistry Electronics Embedded Systems Programming Communications General Engineering ii. General Information C. Station Challenges a. Station challenges are tasks, challenges or activities given to teams for the opportunity to earn points, with the number of points varying from station to station. b. A station may be challenged only ONCE. c. A station is considered challenged if the team decides to proceed with the task. d. Failure to complete the station within the number of attempts and/or time limit set will result to zero points gained for that station. e. Forfeiting a station is considered a failure, and the forfeiting team must wait for 2 minutes before proceeding to another station f. If there are complaints against the test, challenge, or activity, the teams can raise their concerns to the station manager or event organizers. These complaints can only include problems with figures, misunderstanding with station managers and not about the difficulty of the task. D. Determining the Winner a. The team with the highest number of points is considered as the winner. b. The tabulated points and the decision made by the judges is irrevocable and considered final.

Cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates will be given away to the top 3 winners. Certificate of participation will be given for all participants.
