Stage 1 Identify Desired Results VA Standards for the Professional Practice of Teachers: Standard Two: Instructional Planning Teachers plan using the Virginia Standards of Learning, the schools curriculum, effective strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students. Key Element 2: Teachers use the input and contributions of families, colleagues, and other professionals in designing instruction that promotes student growth. Key Element 5: Teachers choose appropriate strategies, resources, and materials to differentiate instruction for individuals and groups of students and develop appropriate sequencing of learning experiences. Knowledge Teachers will know Databases are available for the primary grades. Early World Book has 3 different databases: Treks Travels, Welcome to Reading, Know It. There are different Web 2.0 tools provided by Early World Book for students and teachers such as fiction and nonfiction eBooks, interactive encyclopedia, videos, games, quizzes, printables, reading levels, links and curriculum based lesson plans. Early World Book provides resources that promote integrated literacy skills. Skills Observe the use of all 3 databases in Early World Book. Distinguish the differences between all 3 databases with Early World Book. Locate lesson plans on Early World Book according to state curriculum standards to promote literacy skills. Collaborate with others to enhance technology skills. Use icons successfully. Choose appropriate reading levels. Choose activities according to Lexile reading level.

Use a variety of web 2.0 tools.
