2 Problem Statement

KPOC or known as Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company is a joint venture between Petronas Cari Gali, Shell and ConocoPhilips. The vision of the company is to maximize their profit, for that, they have sent their expertise in every department in their company to work in KPOC. For that, KPOC has become multiracial company and it is hard at first for the company to actually make the employee to work together.

Since the day the company operate, various social activities have been done to bring intimacy to the employee relationship toward each other. The activities such as, Family Day that been done in Sunway Lagoon, KPOC Cares Day, Team Building, Annual Gathering every 3 months and Annual dinner at the end of the year. Not just that, KPOCs CSR include also employee requirement such as, health insurance, RM200 phone bill every month, free breakfast such as drinks, food and fruits at the pantry. Even though it may looks like a small matter, but these are the factors that attract quality workforce. The best workforce usually will choose company that socially responsible towards it employee (Bhatatcharya and friends, 2008)

More and more company introduce CSR towards their workforce in achieving quality employee. Most companies come to realise the importance of CSR towards it workforce and use this advantage to attract a good quality and high skill workforce in working for their company (Greening and Turban, 2000). But it is still unclear whether the CSR really does effective in

attracting quality workforce. Since the reputation and well commercialised company are determined by it products sale and it financial value, the evidence that proof CSR is the major factor in improving employee-employee relationship and attracting quality workforce is still unclear (Jorgensen and Isaksson, 2008).

In the view above, there are some questions that need to shed further light in investigating the role of CSR in KPOC toward its workforce. Does CSR provided by KPOC give satisfaction towards it workforce? Does CSR provided by KPOC attract quality workforce? Does CSR provided by KPOC could bring more secure relationship between the employees in the company?

1.3 Research Objective

1.3.1 Main Objective To investigate the effectiveness ok KPOCs corporate social responsibilities (CSR) in attracting quality workforce.

1.3.2 Objectives The objectives for this research:

1. To investigate the level of the workforce satisfaction towards the KPOCs CSR 2. To investigate the effectiveness of KPOCs CSR in attracting quality workforce 3. To investigate the effectiveness of CSR on the intimacy level of relationship between the employees within KPOC.
