God Is! is a one day journey bringing people closer to God, no matter where they are in their faith walk. For some, God Is! will be an introduction to the fullness of truth found in the Catholic Church. For many, it will be a call to return home to the faith of their childhood. For others, God Is! will be a catalyst for reinvigorating their lukewarm faith. For still others, God Is! will call out in the never-ending cry of our Lord, Come higher and know Me better! No matter where you are, this single day of spiritual renewal is for you! Come and join your parish family on Saturday, November 16, 2013. The day begins with a continental breakfast at 8:30AM and concludes with our regularly scheduled Saturday evening Mass at 5:00PM The suggested donation for this day is $20.00. All participants will receive breakfast and lunch and a year of inspirational and informative CDs or downloads from Catholic Lighthouse Media, NFP (a $72.00 value!). The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will be available the weekend of November 16-17 after all masses.
The Church believes and confesses that among the seven sacraments there is one especially intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness, the Anointing of the Sick: This sacred anointing of the sick was instituted by Christ our Lord as a true and proper sacrament of the New Testament. It is alluded to indeed by Mark, but is recommended to the faithful and promulgated by James the apostle and brother of the Lord ( 1511 Catechism of the Catholic Church). The Anointing of the Sick is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. If a sick person who received this anointing recovers his health, he can in the case of another grave illness receive this sacrament again. If during the same illness the person's condition becomes more serious, the sacrament may be repeated. It is fitting to receive the Anointing of the Sick just prior to a serious operation. The same holds for the elderly whose frailty becomes more pronounced ( 1514-1515 CCC). The first grace of this sacrament is one of strengthening, peace and courage to overcome the difficulties that go with the condition of serious illness or the frailty of old age. This grace is a gift of the Holy Spirit, who renews trust and faith in God and strengthens against the temptations of the evil one, the temptation to discouragement and anguish in the face of death. This assistance from the Lord by the power of his Spirit is meant to lead the sick person to healing of the soul, but also of the body if such is God's will. Furthermore, if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven( 1520 CCC). By the grace of this sacrament the sick person receives the strength and the gift of uniting himself more closely to Christ's Passion: in a certain way he is consecrated to bear fruit by configuration to the Savior's redemptive Passion ( 1521 CCC). By celebrating this sacrament the Church, in the communion of saints, intercedes for the benefit of the sick person, and he, for his part, though the grace of this sacrament, contributes to the sanctification of the Church and to the good of all men for whom the Church suffers and offers herself through Christ to God the Father ( 1522 CCC). If the sacrament of anointing of the sick is given to all who suffer from serious illness and infirmity, even more rightly is it given to those at the point of departing this life; so it is also called sacramentum exeuntium (the sacrament of those departing). The Anointing of the Sick completes our conformity to the death and Resurrection of Christ, just as Baptism began it. It completes the holy anointings that mark the whole Christian life: that of Baptism which sealed the new life in us, and that of Confirmation which strengthened us for the combat of this life. This last anointing fortifies the end of our earthly life like a solid rampart for the final struggles before entering the Father's house ( 1523 CCC).
If you or someone in your household needs the Sacrament at another time, phone (630) 629-1717 to set-up an appointment with Fr. Peter.

Year of Faith 2012-2013 A STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE CHRIST THE KING FINANCE COUNCIL ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT TO THE PARISH
Page 7
Enclosed in todays Bulletin and also available on the parish website is our financial report for last fiscal year 2012/13. Our parish incurred a loss of $33,735. However we are pleased that we are still current with all bills and continuing to pay our debt. For this we thank the generosity of our parishioners as we continue prudent stewardship of parish resources. Nevertheless, with the latest loss we have drawn down our reserves and will be facing significant financial challenges this year. Many of our parish families are generously sharing their financial gifts with the parish. We thank you so much for your dedicated support and, for those that can, please prayerfully consider an increase in your offering. If you have any questions please contact the finance council: Finance@CtKLombard.org Christ the King Finance Council: Rick Cosenza, Brian Carnahan, Lori Bhardwaj, Pat Caruso, Elaine Ward, Javier Aguilera

Recently, I was cleaning the faith formation area at the Academy and I came across a handout of the ABCs of Stewardship from the Diocese of Joliet. It reminded me of many important themes that are part of the personal growth of stewardship. One theme in the handout under G is Gratitude, which reads; As a steward, one must have a genuine sense of gratitude. I had a friend who asked me, If all you had today was what you gave thanks for yesterday, what would you have? Needless to say, the first time I was asked that question, I would have had very little. To me as a Catholic this is very important in my personal and professional life because we all have many examples but do we share our gratitude. I am very grateful to the Santo Nino prayer community and the Christ the King St. Vincent DePaul Society who recently gave proceeds to our Academy. It is important to recognize individuals and organizations which have many options for which that can give donations to but choose the Academy. Another theme from the ABCs of Stewardship is C Commitment, it reads; Its not easy to become a steward. It takes daily practice and commitment. Learning to trust God and others is often what makes commitment especially difficult. Time also plays havoc with the commitment to stewardship. I dont have time to do the things I must do, so how can I squeeze out time for volunteering? Often, when I am beginning to create a change in my life, I need to establish a support system so that I am accountable not only to myself (I can accept about any excuse I create) but to someone else. I have a friend who will ask Did you do your two hours of volunteer work this week? Clearly, at Christ the King Parish we are blessed with many people and events that encourage and support the idea of stewardshipbut what we do with stewardship is the question we each need to answer. I invite you to Google: the ABCs Of Stewardship and revisit the themes that are so much of our Catholic lives as we practice our faith the way God intended. Stewardship is also a W Way of Life. Stewardship is not an addendum; its not something I can do once in awhile when I feel like it. Stewarding believes the we receive Gods gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly, in justice with others and return them with increase to the Lord (U.S. bishops letter). Yours in Christ, Mrs. Placey
