The project required a lot of guidance and assistance from many people and we are extremely fortunate to have got this all along our project work. Whatever we have done couldnt have been done without such guidance and assistance and we would take this opportunity to thank them. We respect and thank Dr. P.K. Patowari, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering, NIT Silchar 13, for giving us an opportunity to do the project work as a partial fulfillment of the course in B.Tech and providing us all support and guidance which made us proceed with the project. It is of common knowledge that modern automobiles run on Internal Combustion Engines powered by fossil fuels, which are depleting at an exponential rate. Many innovations have been suggested to improve fuel economy. The present idea/innovation is one such attempt. It utilizes the concepts of two well-known six stroke cycles, viz. Water injection (Crowers) six stroke cycle and Lean combustion six stroke cycle. The resultant is an eight stroke cycle, consisting of a suction stroke, three compression strokes, three expansion (power) stroke and an exhaust stroke. The lean combustion helps us to achieve better fuel utilization, efficiency and economy. The water injection gives us a power stroke without use of any extra fuel. The present idea has the potential to be efficient as well as eco-friendly.
