)This is one of the stories during Halloween% To do this you will need the story, a pair of scissors, and a sheet of orange construction paper%* .nce upon a time a 'ery small witch was walking in the woods% The cold wind was blowing the dry lea'es all around her% The little witch was frantically searching for a house for the winter% She could not find one% Suddenly a piece of .range paper, blown by the wind landed at her feet% She picked it up% The little witch looked closely at the paper and then she said, /# shall make myself a little house from this piece of orange paper%/ She folded the paper in half% Then she took her scissors )she always carried a pair in her pocket* and cut off the two corners to make a roof% )0ut the construction paper as the story indicates*% /This will do +ust fine,/ she said as she looked at her new house% /But # will need a door%/ ith her scissors she cut a door% Since witches always wear pointed hats, she cut a special door% )0ut a rectangle shape with one end pointed up more towards the bottom of the folded edge%* The little witch walked through the door into the little orange house% #t was 'ery dark inside% She ,uickly hurried back out% /# will need to make windows to let in the light,/ said the little witch% She cut a front and back window% )0ut a s,uare shape in the top middle of the paper opposite end of the paper than the door% 0ut through both sides of the paper%* .h, it was a 'ery fine looking house% Her 'ery own little house with a roof, a door, and windows was all finished% But +ust as the little witch started to go inside for the winter, she saw a tiny ghost floating down the windswept path% "s the tiny ghost came to a stop near the little house, the little witch saw that she was crying% / hy are you crying!/asked the little witch% The tiny ghost stopped crying and answered, /#t is cold and windy% #t is getting dark% "nd # ha'e no place to spend the winter%/

/1ou may spend the winter with me in my new house,/ said the kind little witch% /.h, thank you, / the happy tiny ghost said as she peeked in through the window% /This is a 'ery nice house%/ /2irst,/ said the witch, /# will need to make you a little door of your 'ery own%/ She took her scissors again and began to cut% She cut a 'ery tiny door% )0ut a triangle on the folded edge of the paper between the big door and the window% 3ake the longer part of the triangle point up* The two happy new friends went inside% The tiny ghost went in the 'ery litttle door, and the little witch went through her own special door% "ll winter long they li'ed happily together inside the little orange house% #f you want to see inside their little orange house, +ust open your piece of paper and Surprise! The orange paper is cut into a +ack o lantern% The big door is the mouth, the tiny door is the nose, and the windows are the eyes% The cut roof gi'es the paper an octagon shape, making it more like a pumpkin% # know it may be hard 'isualizing the directions of where you need to cut each piece while you read the story but hopefully you will understand once you know what the finished pro+ect is supposed to look like% The kids really lo'e to see that the house is really a +ack o lantern%

LESSON 3
"im- to introduce some new e(pressions A!T: THE 1LO1 )Paint a picture with a sponge* 9raw a shape on a piece of paper% 0ut out the shape% Place the Blob% Patter on top of another piece of paper )can tape down*% :se a sponge to dab paint along the edges where the pattern and piece of paper meet% ;emo'e the pattern% :se crayons to draw a face on your Blob any way you like it% e take paper plates and let the child decorate their own monster face% They cut out eyes, nose and mouth% They use yarn, glitter, se,uins, colored pasta, markers, crayons, tissue paper%%%anything we ha'e in the art center% Then we paper hole punch a hole on each side, and add yarn to tie the mask on% The children all name the type of monster they are and we all parade around the room to the tune of the / 3onster 3ash/% &et 0hildren make a monster headband, 0ut a monster shape, and add to a band for around head% &et them decorate with different collage items, buttons, wiggly eyes, crayons, feathers, felt, tissue paper, etc%%% let them decorate to be a uni,ue monster% Staple around the head and do a 3onster stomp!

.OE$: /i2e Little $onsters 2i'e little monsters by the light of the moon Stirring pudding with a wooden pudding spoon% The first one says, /#t musn8t be runny%/ The second one says, /That would make it taste funny%/ The third one says, /#t musn8t be lumpy%/

The fourth one says, /That would make me grumpy%/ The fifth one smiles, hums a little tune, "nd licks all the drippings from the wooden pudding spoon! The teacher e(plains the e(pression <to be afraid of= and the children ha'e to say the thing)s* they are afraid of% They discuss in order to find some solutions for their fear% The teacher gradually introduces some new characters and words%

The children are assigned partners% .ne partner is the pumpkin and the other partner is the pumpkin protector% 6 assign one or more children to be the pumpkin catchers 6 designate safe areas within the gym 6 the pumpkin and pumpkin protector +oin hands% The pumpkin protector is to lead the pumpkin to a safe area away from the pumpkin catcher without either of them falling once they arri'e in a safe zone they are to do assigned e(ercises )>? wall push6ups, sit6ups or crunches*% 6 after completing this they make their way to another safe zone 6 if they get caught by the pumpkin catchers, they must help him/her catch other pumpkins and their protectors% 6 once e'eryone is caught, the game begins again with the children switching roles%

LESSON 4
"im- to consolidate learning TO!Y: /i2e orange 4um4&ins .nce there were fi'e orange pumpkins growing in a pumpkin patch% There was a 7#"@T pumpkin, a &";74 pumpkin, a 349#:3 pumpkin, a S3"&& pumpkin and a T#@1 pumpkin% )Put them on the flannel board one by one%* " man came by and looked at the fi'e pumpkins% He picked up the giant pumpkin% /This will be a fine pumpkin to put in my store window%/ he said% );emo'e the 7#"@T pumpkin%* Soon a woman came by and looked at the four pumpkins still growing in the pumpkin patch% She picked up the large pumpkin% /This will be a fine pumpkin to set on my doorstep/ she said% );emo'e large* @e(t a teacher came by and looked at the three pumpkins still growing in the pumpkin patch% She chose the medium pumpkin% /This will be a fine pumpkin for my classroom!/ she said% );emo'e medium* Then a baker came by and looked at the two pumpkins still growing in the pumpkin patch% He found the small pumpkin% /This will be +ust fine for a

pumpkin pie!/ he said% );emo'e small*% 2inally a little boy dressed in a ghost costume stopped by the pumpkin patch% He saw the tiny pumpkin that was left% /This is +ust right to take to my Halloween party!/ he said% So he took the pumpkin, painted a face on it and said /This is my best 5ack6o6lantern e'er!/ The teacher asks different ,uestions related to the story in order to e'aluate the children% ong: #$m a little pumpkin #$m a little pumpkin, orange and round Here$s my stem, there$s the ground hen # get all cut up, don$t you shout .pen me up and scoop me out% .pen me up and scoop me out!

Ha'e kids form a circle% The itch )teacher* will stand in the middle of the circle, spin around, then raise her hand and cast a spell on the kids, turning them into a particular animal% Say- /Hocus, Pocus, "la Aazam! Turn into dogs, if you can!/ To change all animals back into kidsSay- /Hocus Pocus "la Aazam! @ow turn back into you!/ 9og, cat, bird, cow, rabbit, fish, horse, sheep, ghost, witch, etc% $OT!I# "A$E: 5are5row !ela* 4,uipment 6 white pillowcases, big clothes or burlap bags representing ghosts or scarecrows 6 di'ide children into B teams 6 place pillowcases, burlap bags or big clothes in two hoops at the end of the gym

6 children must run to the hoop and climb into the pillowcases/burlap bag or big clothes 6 they must run back to their team and they do the same 6 this continues until e'eryone has had a turn%

LESSON 5
"im- to consolidate and e'aluate learning #n this unit we make a consolidation af all the knoweledge taught that week though a contest% The children repeat the poem and the song% The children sol'e a handCout related to the topic% 4'ery afternoon they re'ise what they ha'e learned in the morning% Practice- " Halloween 0arni'al The teacher and children dressed up / disguised for Halloween go from one classroom into another singing and reciting poems% They introduce themsel'es and use the well known e(pression- Trick or treat in order to get sweets% Then, they ha'e a party all together to celebrate Halloween%

!OLE .LAY ) At the restaurant )in the classroom there is a table e(actly as at the restaurant- there are spoons, forks, knifs, plates, glasses and napkins% 2irst, the teacher is the waitress and she chooses two good children to be the customers% The role play is repeated with all the children three by three* Sally and 4mily are at the restaurant% Waitress: hat would you like to order! Sally:# would like fish and chips% Emily: # would like a salad% Waitress: ould you like anything to drink! Sally:1es, # will ha'e an orange +uice% Emily:1es, # will ha'e a glass of coke% Waitress: 9o you want to order dessert! Sally: 1es, please% # would like a piece of cake% Waitress: #s that all!
