Meditation
HEAVENS FORETASTE EVEN on earth the joy of harvest is great; but what infinite joy will ensue when the number of the elect is accomplished, --When the bodies of the saints are retrieved from the grave and Christ celebrates his harvest-home! ---The kingdom of heaven is elective, to which some men are chosen; and yet, at the same time, it goes indefeasible, hereditary right: it proceeds in the line of election and the line of regeneration. ---We should be in a bad condition indeed, if our salvation was suspended on condition of our own performing. ---Gods everlasting love, his decree of election and an eternal covenant of redemption are the three hinges on which the door of mans salvation turns. When man fell from God, infinite justice put a lock upon the door: a lock which nothing but the golden key of Christs blood and righteousness can open. The Holy Spirit [if I may venture to use so familiar a comparison] is, as it were, the omniscient keeper of the door; and he lets no souls in but such as he himself has washed and justified and sanctified in the name of our Lord Jesus, and by his own efficacious grace.---I should as soon expect to be saved by my sins as to be saved by my good works. ---A. Toplady Nothing more inflames a Christians love to God than a firm belief of his personal election from eternity; after he has been enabled to evidence the writing of his name in heaven by the experience of his heavenly calling and of a heavenly conversation. When the Spirit of God [whose proper work it is to assure, as it was the Fathers to elect, and the Son to redeem] has written the law of life in a Christians heart, and caused him to kno w assuredly that his name is in the Book of Life, he cannot but melt in sweet flames of holy affection. Arrowsmith DISCRIMNATING GRACE By nature there is no difference between the elect and the reprobate. Paul was as bloody a persecutor as Domitian, or Julian; Zaccheus as unconscionable and covetous a worldling as was the rich glutton damned in hell. The elect and the reprobate, before converting grace make the difference, are like two men walking in one journey, of one mind, and one heart, They resemble Elijah and Elisha, walking and talking together, when, lo, a chariot of fire suddenly severs them; and Elijah is rapt up into heaven, while Elisha is left behind upon earth. So it is when Gods effectual calling, quite unlooked for, comes and separates those two who were walking together. B. Cowper

Thank you so much for coming to worship God with us today. We hope and pray that you will be blessed among us and that you also will be a blessing to us. If you have any prayer needs or if you'd like to know more about our church, one of our pastors or elders would be very happy to speak with you.

Other News
The Consistory recommends for your edification the recent edited reprint of Pastor C. Pronk's book, Expository Sermons on the Canons of Dort. Copies are available on the book table in the Narthex by your mailboxes. The price is penciled on the front page and may be placed in a general collection (marked for the book). Word & Deed - The Philippines - Typhoon Haiyan - You are all aware that The Philippines was struck hard by Typhoon Haiyan on November 8. The number of dead is rapidly rising and millions have been affected. Word & Deed is partnering with a Reformed church in the Philippines (a church which has been visited by Pastors Kranendonk and Bilkes in previous years) and an initial $10,000 is being sent to them with the expectation that more will be sent in the near future. Please pray for the survivors as they wrestle with the death, injuries, and massive damage all around them. May the Lord comfort His people and bring many to salvation through this trial. Please see wordanddeed.org for updates.
