HPQUICKPREVIEW system variable. Type HPQUICKPREVIEW in AutoCAD command line and press enter.Type OFF then enter again.

You may also want to try working with hatch preview but lower the HPQUICKPREVIEW TIMEOUT to 1. 2. Use object as boundary AutoCAD can quickly create hatch if you select object, instead of picking a poin t. Sometimes it is faster to create a closed polyline as boundary than trying to find where is the gap and fix the drawing. 3. Create separation lines If creating polylines seems tedious, we might want to try an alternative first. Sometimes AutoCAD fail to find boundary, even we know the area has no gap. It ca n be because the boundary has too many objects. You can try to divide the area by creating lines on non-plot layer, to divide it to smaller areas. Then try to pick a point again. Remember, if you click in mul tiple areas before you end the hatch command it will be created as one instance. 4. Erase and OOPS! This is my colleague favorite workaround. The idea is the same with no. 3: to ma ke the boundary simpler. He will erase objects near the boundary and other objec ts that will not be calculated when creating hatch. After the drawing has become simpler, he creates hatch. Then he restore the obje cts by using OOPS command. OOPS will restore last deleted objects. But will not cancel objects you drew aft er erase command. Remember, only last erased objects are restored. So you need to erase them in on e go. I am currently on vacation but wanted to share a great AutoCAD Tip from my frien d the AutoCAD Trainer Guy Michael Beal. Michael always has great tips and clear instructions in his monthly Michael s Corner available on the web as well as a month ly newsletter. The following tip is from Michael s Corner May 2009. scr01 Prerequisite: The X and Y values need to be in a single cell in the format of X, Y for this to work. If X and Y have their own column, you will need to make the necessary adjustments to get them to X,Y format. Instructions to Create a Drawing with X,Y Coordinates from Excel In Excel, highlight and Copy the column of X,Y coordinates to be used to generat e the drawing. Open Windows Notepad (Startsubmenu All ProgramssubmenuAccessoriessubmenuNotepad) . Before pasting the coordinates, type LINE as the first word in the file (this wi ll launch the Line command when the script is run), then press [Enter]. Now Paste the column of coordinates into the file and you should see something l ike that shown in the figure. Close and save the .SCR file (remember where you're saving it). In AutoCAD, launch the SCRIPT command, then navigate to where you saved your fil e in the previous step, then select it and click Open. AutoCAD will launch the L ine command then, beginning at the first set of coordinates entered, will draw l ine segments from one point to the next. You may also want to consider Replacing the LINE command with the PLINE command. Adding the word CLOSE as the last word in the script to have the linework close back to the start point. Dragging the .SCR file out of Windows Explorer and dropping it into the drawing window.

You are here: Home / AutoCAD / AutoCAD Tips / How to: Explode block to other lay er How to: Explode block to other layer June 21, 2012 by Edwin Prakoso 0 Comments 5 0 0 2 Last time, I posted how we can make object layer to inherit the parent block lay er after exploding. Jim Anderson told me that we can also use XPLODE. I don t reckon when this feature exist, but honestly I completely forget about it! Thank you Jim. So what does XPLODE do? XPLODE will explode blocks. And it also let you choose which properties you want the objects to inherit from parent block. As you can see below, after you activate the tool and choose a block, there are a bunch of options. xplode options Color allows you to choose which color the objects should be after exploding. Yo u can also choose LAyer, LType, LWeight. If you override the block properties, you can just choose to inherit all propert ies from parent block. The last one, Explode, works exactly the same as AutoCAD default explode tool. All allows you to give input for each option consecutively. It s interesting that if you select multiple blocks, you can set it for all blocks selected (globally) or individually. I think BURST works the same as XPLODE > Inherit from parent block. So it has le ss key strokes to use and no additional options. It might be faster to use BURST if you just want it to inherit the parent properties. However, Jim told me that XPLODE is also available in AutoCAD LT. But not BURST, because it s a part of express tools. I must ask this, but do you even know that this tool exist? Because I didn t!
