Bible Study

Reading Portion: Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,

with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.( Colossians 3:16-17)
Word of Christ: we should be thorough with the Bible, its index, books of the bible. Doctrine concerning Christ, sin, salvation e.t.c. Every day we must read, meditate upon the word of God. i.e Word is to live, to abide, to have free course in our lives. This is possible only through a serious effort to learn it (via self-study, Bible classes, sermons, etc.). But learning is only the FIRST step!. It should not be mere knowledge; we must be doer of the word of God. Sadly, many who study never make the application, and remain "hearers only" - cf. Jm 1:22-25. As much as we do the word of God we start enjoying the word of God. Group study: For every word we speak, do and act we should consult word of God, what is admonishes us. Our mind should be transformed with that.We are bound to be teachable and teach for the same. Our group studies should be more practical, real and purely based on word of God. Not time passers, Opinions of various people. Admonishing one another: As much as we read the word of God and applying the same we start singing. when we add to our "study" of the Word of God the element of "song word of God stays strong in our hearts. This truth we glean as we notice HOW Paul says we are to let the Word dwell in us richly i.e., by "teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns...". Does this not make sense? For if the Word is to dwell in us"richly".... It must not only involve the MIND through study. It must also involve the HEART (emotions) through song!

Proper singing: It is the means through which the Word of Christ dwells in us "richly". For this to happen, of course, we must sing properly. We must understand what we are singing (otherwise, we are not taught and admonished). Our heart (emotions) must be involved, otherwise we are not Singing "with grace in our hearts". Fortunately, this does not require formal voice training, for the emphasis is not on how it sounds to the ear, but how it touches the heart! . Thus, ALL can and should sing (in the heart at least, if Unable to do so with the mouth) . For those who have not learned the "joy of singing", they are Depriving themselves of the means God intended for the Word to dwell in us "richly"!
