Triage Kit

Rationale
The reason for this item being included in the Leftbehind Legacy is to
provide immediate and emergency treatment for injuries sustain during the
rapture event and the subsequent journey to the location of the Leftbehind
Legacy

Contents
The contents of the Triage kit consists of a basic first aid kit, supplemented
with additional first aid supplies for the types of injuries that would be
reasonably expected to accompany the rapture event.

The primary focus of this kit is to provide first aid supplies to treat these
immediate injuries and allow the recipient to move rapidly on to other
matters, specifically the rest of the legacy trunk contents.

A full list of the contents of the Triage pack is provided on the last page of
this section and also on a separate sheet contained inside the Triage pack.

Packaging
The Triage kit is packaged within dual ziploc bags placed with their
respective openings at opposite ends. This has been done to minimise the
chances of accidental opening of both layers of plastic protection. These
ziploc bags should be opened without damaging them as they should be
retained for further use.

Within the second ziploc bag is the triage kit contained inside a durable
pouch or bag, depending on the preparer's preference.

The actual Triage contents are contained within this bag. Upon opening the
Triage bag there will be a number of additionally sealed packages, each
labeled and identified for their specific use.

Liquid and lotions are contained in their respective commercially supplied

containers, then further contained in sealed ziploc bags to avoid leakage and
spoilage of other items in the kit.

Using
The contents of the kit are designed to be used to treat the following types of
injuries:
• Abrasions
• Bruising
• Burns
• Cuts
• Electrolyte replacement
• Foreign Object Removal
• Heat Exhaustion
• Hypogyclemia
• Hypothermia
• Pain relief
• Shock
• Sprains
• Specific Personal Needs

Shelf-life
The shelf life of the contents is divided into a number of groups:
• Bandages and wound wrappings have indefinite shelf life, provided the packaging has
not been broken or tampered with. These items have been packed in a sterile condition
and are safe to use at any time.
• Creams and ointments
• Liquid medicines
• Tablets and capsules

Restocking
There is no need to restock the Triage kit following use. Additional first aid
and medical items are provided in both the 72 hour pack and the 30 day kits.
The Triage kit is designed to be a one use only item.

Unused Items
Unused items in this kit may be either discarded or transferred to the 72
hour pack. Transfer of the unused contents is preferred, but discarding is an
option that will not have any adverse effect.

Reasons to discard may be due to time constraints, or the decision to keep

the 72 hour pack sealed till the recipient is safely out of the area. Regardless
the keep/disposal decision is a trivial one and the recipient should
understand that either way will have virtually no future consequences.
Waste Disposal
Contained within the Leftbehind Legacy trunk and packaged separately is a
2 litre bottle of white vinegar, a similar quantity of metholated spirits or a
similar quantity of chlorine bleach. This item has been included to assist in
waste disposal.
All items of medical waste, that is, items that have been used or soiled in the
act of treating injuries should be collected and placed in some form of
disposable container, an old ice cream container would suffice. The waste
items are then covered to a depth of 25-50mm in the provided liquid and left
in the solution. The liquid will kill pathogens on the discarded dressings.
It should be noted that the most effective solution is the white vinegar
followed by the chlorine bleach and finally the metholated spirit.
Metholated spirit does however offer the opportunity to burn the waste
material in addition to the pathogen treatment. Metholated spirit flames are
of low visibility and would not attract attention.
