Electricity Situation in Pakistan

environment are been suffocated with number of power generators dreadful
echoing noise from neighbors corridors. This is a very normal and historic
s c e n e w h i c h h a s b e e n r e p e a t e d f r o m m a n y ye a r s n e a r l y i n a l l c i t i e s o f
Pakistan not without any exception of major cities. Electricity load
shedding and fluctuation day to day ask sacrificing of electric appliance for
its ritual traditions. This situation has become a very important part of
f l e x i b l e l i f e s t yl e .

Electricity in Pakistan is generated, transmitted, distributed and retail

s u p p l i e d b y t w o v e r t i c a l l y i n t e g r a t e d p u b l i c s e c t o r u t i l i t i e s ; Wa t e r a n d
P o w e r D e v e l o p m e n t A u t h o r i t y ( WA P D A ) [ 1 ] - F o r t h e w h o l e P a k i s t a n
(Except Karachi) and the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) -
For the City of Karachi and its surrounding Areas. There are around 16
independent power producers that contribute significantly in electricity
generation in Pakistan.

For years, the matter of balancing Pakistan's supply against the demand for
e l e c t r i c i t y h a s r e m a i n e d a l a r g e l y u n r e s o l v e d m a t t e r. P a k i s t a n f a c e s a
significant challenge in revamping its network responsible for the supply
o f e l e c t r i c i t y.

One might be able to consider from one facet of this crisis beneficial for
emergency power providers companies. The revenue and sale market for
such companies’ related products that is Power Generators, UPS
(uninterrupted Power S u p p l y) are on demand and inventing new
employment opportunities and growth in electricity appliances market.
Along with that, it not only introduces new t yp e of pollution and
disturbance in environment but a void prospective of truth and fakeness of
o r i g i n a l i t y o f c u r r e n t e c o n o m i c a l c o n d i t i o n s . Ye a r b y ye a r, g o v e r n m e n t b y
government elections and selecting proper leaders, none have made a 0.1
percentage change to presented conditions.

• Electricity Consumption per Capita = 430.183 kWh/capita (2006) [1]

Understanding the above provided figures might suggest the idea, cant
e x p o r t a s w e a l r e a d y i n a e n v i r o n m e n t o f s u f f o c a t i n g p o w e r s u p p l y, a n d n o t
getting an y import as we doesn’t have proper credibilit y (as government
reports describes).

New technologies and researches are been progressed in developing a new

p a t h w a ys f o r e n e r g y c o n s u m p t i o n a n d g e n e r a t i o n . F i r s t s t e p w o u l d b e
getting present natural resource in proper use. As solar power does not
make sense for all locations in the world, but it can bring a very big
profitable change in energy generation process in Pakistan.

T h o u g h i t ’s a f r e e r e c o u r s e t o c o n s u m e b u t t h e i n i t i a l c o s t o f i n s t a l l i n g
solar panels or other sources of solar energy is high, and that is not easy
for most people to get around. No matter how much some people would like
to get involved in the movement to i n d e p e n d e n t e n e r g y, it is cost
p r o h i b i t i v e . To a c h i e v e t h e h i g h e s t l e v e l o f e f f i c i e n c y, w h i c h i s t h e e n t i r e
p o i n t o f g o i n g s o l a r i n t h e f i r s t p l a c e , yo u n e e d t h e p r o p e r a m o u n t o f r o o f
space to support the panels your house may require. [2] Not only how much
space is available, but also the location of your home is also relevant to
w h e t h e r o r n o t yo u c a n m a i n t a i n s o l a r e n e r g y. S o m e h o u s e s s i m p l y d o n o t
r e c e i v e e n o u g h s u n l i g h t t o p r o d u c e s u b s t a n t i a l e n e r g y. T h i s c o u l d m e a n t h a t
either your house is not positioned favorably in relation to a tree or other
house. This practice can be effective for house appliances requirements but
for business corporations; a more feasible solution should be put forwarded
instead of garbling between producing till required electricity with opening
n e w d i m e n s i o n s a n d s t a n d i n g o n s o l i d g r o u n d o f Te c h n o l o g y a n d H i g h
powered Era.
