SEDIFLOC 1000C-SERIES

CATIONIC ORGANIC FLOCCULANTS CHEMICALPHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Polyacrylamide in emulsion form Physical state Charge Density Viscosity pH opalescent white emulsion cationic 0.980 1.100 gr/mL 1000 2500 CPS 3.0 4.0 (sol. 0.5% H2O dist.) As a general indication, the quantities that may be used are: 0.5 - 12 kg/ton of sludge for sludge dewatering, 1 - 30 mg/L for flotation, 0.25 - 12 kg/ton of sludge for sludge thickening, 0.5 - 40 mg/L for clarification of waste waters. PACKAGING STORAGE Sedifloc emulsion flocculants are supplied in 25 kg drums, 120 kg drums, 200 kg drums or 1050 kg IBC. This product has to be stored at temperatures between +5C and maximum +35C; the product does not sand the cold; after gelation do not use more the product. If stored correctly, it remains stable for 6 months. After long storage times it is better to gently mix the product to re-omogenize it. Bulk tanks should be mixed by periodically recirculating the contents bottom to top. Bulk tanks can also be fitted with an agitator type mixer that reaches the bottom 2 feet of the tank. Cross-linked polyethylene, fibreglass, stainless steel are the preferred materials of construciotn for bulk containers. Avoid natural rubber and Buna-N gaskets as these materials swell when placed in conctact with neat polymer. Unlined mild steel, black iron, galvanized steel, copper or brass are not recommended in any part of the feed system. Stainless steel, Viton or Teflon are the best choices for pump heads. For feed lines, use PVC or reinforced Tygon tubing. HEALTH SAFETY Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Follow the industrial hygiene norms. The solutions are very slippery; avoid spilling. IMPORTANT: the solutions obtained with Sedifloc cationic polymers corrode iron, copper and aluminum.

PROPERTIES APPLICATIONS Sedifloc 1000C-series are synthetic organic polymers in emulsion, that are used in all processes of solid-liquid separation, such as: flotation, decantation, filtration, thickening, centrifugation and belt-pressing. The use of these flocculants ensures high clarity of the treated water, a higher sedimentation rate, high recovery of solids, also effective activity at low dosages. Moreover, they are easy to handle and dissolve and gives very good results with strong alkaline pH ranges. FEEDING DOSAGE Before use, the Sedifloc flocculants in the form of emulsion must be stirred gently in their own container, in order to achieve a suitable degree of homogenisation. The solutions obtained with the Sedifloc emulsion flocculants are normally prepared by adding the polymer to the water under agitation for 20 - 30 minutes by means of a rotor in a separate basin. When using a screw agitator, the speed should not exceed 500 rpm. The product may also be dosed by dilution on a suitable water line, without using agitators and separate basin. The concentration of the solutions must be lower than or equal to 0.6% (0.2 - 0.3%) as a maximum; the dosages must be determined each time through preliminary tests. Polymer solutions should be aged for 15-60 minutes for best results. Solution shelf life is 8-16 hours.
