Pakistan is a developing country where human rights work is limited and the existing human rights network is not so developed. There is a dire need of raising human rights issues in the country at grass roots level, but the capacity of community based organizations and support NG s to promote human rights empowerment is weak, mainly due to lack of human rights awareness and basic organizational skill. The need is to initiate activities with the emphasis on minorities! rights, women!s rights, culture of peace and tolerance, combating terrorism and other such issues by working together with the international organizations and the government of Pakistan in a coordinated manner. The present study is intended to investigate the level of awareness about human rights and responsibility of citizenship. The main objective of study was as under: To draw the personal profile of the youth in "ahawalpur To explore the social status of youth To study the #ivic Participation of citizen To determine the volunteering participation of citizen To know about the social net working as a citizen To study the interest of youth in current affairs To explore the youth influencing decisions in their community

To know about the human rights and its awareness in the youth

"ahawalpur #ity was taken as geographical universe. $%& respondents both male and female were taken as a sample of study by using 'uota sampling techni'ue( 'uestionnaire was selected as a tool of data collection. )e collected the data through 'uota sampling method. *fter the collection of data it was processed both systematically and statistically.

1he ma=or !inding o! the study was as !ollows* The average age of respondents under study was +, years. -a.ority of the respondents have master degree ./%0 respondents were registered as a voter and 1%0 respondents were affiliated with political party. 2ence only $10 respondents can participate in campaign activities for election. 3n the response of informal activities /&0 respondents can take participation in informal activities of community. /40 respondents can think that they were active in community public life. 5egarding current affairs 160 respondents read news pepar.1&0 respondents can agree that media is playing role in favor of society other ,& 0 respondents were disagree. 7%0 respondents can feel friendly behavior with community and only ,60 respondents have trust upon executive officers. 5egarding social net working 1/0 respondents have friends belong to different caste.1&0 respondents feel safe walking alone in neighborhood after dark. 5egarding influencing community decisions ,60 respondents were satisfied with the current condition of community. 740 respondents agreed that they influence decisions affecting their local area. *bout violence in protest +/0 respondent!s advice it is always right. 5egarding rights 1,0 respondents can understand the term rights.170 respondents can speak about their rights. nly ,%0 respondents can proceed a case in court and $%0 respondents can placed their demands to elected representative once a month

while other %+0 respondents placed their demands after respectively three, six or after one year.
