LVCS: Reactive Power in a Nutshell


The LVCS is a compact and powerful capacitor ready for connection. It offers high modularity, unmatched performances and a state of the art integrated protection system. The LVCS wide power and voltage ranges allow its use for all power factor correction systems with or without reactors.

The LVCS offers high power density and small dimensions. The LVCS is provided with built-in discharge devices for a safe discharge to less than 50V in 1 min after a switch off. The LVCS unit is ready to be used as it is in automatic power factor correction equipment without any need for additional discharge devices. Screwless interconnection bars and the specially designed LVCS base allow an easy and quick assembly of LVCS units into power modules. LVCS terminals are designed for straightforward and reliable connections. No cable shoes are needed. The base of LVCS unit is provided with fixation holes allowing easy and firm fixation with two M6-screws. The LVCS is a ready-made IP20 protected capacitor unit.

The LVCS innovative protection system ensures the reliable and individual disconnection of each capacitor winding in case of electrical/thermal overload or at the end of its service life. It is based on the instant reaction of state of the art overpressure detection and disconnection devices.

The LVCS is provided with built-in discharge devices for a safe discharge to less than 50V in 1 min after a switch off. The LVCS unit is ready to be used as it is in automatic power factor correction equipment without any need for additional discharge devices.
IP20 protection

Double casing insulation

Thanks to its specially designed enclosure, the LVCS is a ready-made IP20 protected capacitor unit.

The capacitor windings are housed and fixed in an insulating enclosure with double casing insulation. The LVCS construction protects the windings from the environment and assures high capacitance stability over the whole capacitor service life.

Testing includes long-term ageing, temperature, humidity, dielectric, self-healing, current and voltage tests.

Comprehensive testing

The LVCS and its components are comprehensively tested both off and on the line.

The LVCS capacitor complies with the requirements of the IEC 60831 1 & 2, UL810, C22.2 N190 standards and is CE marked.
