Course Project

I. Context This program is designed for those children at elementary school-aged who do not study at a formal school. the school will take place at Kp. Tegal kali baru, Balaraja, Tangerang, Banten. There are about twenty nine children. Most Children around my neighborhood they do not study at a formal school. Mostly, because their parents cannot afford the school fee. They also do not get support from their parents. Most of those children decided to help their parents to earn money isntead of going to school. In addition, they academically are not motivated to go to school. However, having knowledge about foreign language is very important nowadays, they need to be prepared to have abilities to communicate using foreign language. As I realized this situation I want to teach them. I want to design a language program in order to introduce English, to teach the four language skills, to help them improve their skills, and to prepare them to make a better future. II. Need Analysis The procedure of need analysis is to determining what the learner actually need. In order to make this course reach its goal, the students should be followed by educational experience. From the need analysis the keys of this program can be: 1. To introduce the students with English as a Foreign English. 2. To teach them four basics skills of English Language; Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. 3. To help the students become proficient in English III. Goal and Objective 1. Aim: The learner would become proficient in the four basic skills of English language at elementary school level.

At the end of the course the learner should be able to: - The student could be familiar with many vocabularies, - The student could spell many words and alphabet, - The student can understand the meanings of many words and pronounce it properly, - the student could read simple sentences witouth error, - Mention the things in the classroom and position using approriate preposition, - Mention the part of the house and pronounce it correctly, - The student could make simple sentences, - The student can express daily conversation in English,

Understand about asking and Giving direction, The student can describe themselves in English in front of class, The student can introduce themselves in front of the class using approriate pronouncing, Mention colours and pronounce them correctly, Know kinds of places snd pronounce them Properly Know and Undertsand subject in English Understand the compeonent of English sentences, Retell story Make role playing Listen song, completing the missing lyric and pronounce them, Know kind of hobby, understand the meaning, and how to prononce them, Know kind f Fruit and vegetables, understand the meaning and how to pronounce it correctly, Students can re-arrange error sentences.

IV. Course Planning a. Course Rationale This course is designed for children of age 8 to 13 years old who do not study at a formal school but they are still motivated to learn English. It focuses to help the learner to become proficient in the four basic skills and prepare them to make a better future. After they finished this course, the student are expected to have a chance to make their life better they will also become motivated to go to school . This course will teach the four basic English languge skills through fun teaching and audiolingual method such as; game, guessing meaning, singing, role playing, describing in front of of the class etc. In order to make the process of teaching and learning more effective and interesting, the teacher should be able to be more creative to combine the course with games. This course will use functional syllabus relating to the material that commonly using expression. b. Entry end exit levels The learners have no educational background in learning English. They could not spell any alpabhet in English. Besides the lerners have no vocabulary knowledge. The teacher has to start from the very basic level introducing the learner to the alphabet in english. At the end of this course the students are wished to have the four basic skills in English language and commucate in English properly. c. Class size There are about thirty children. they will be devided into two classes A and B, in order to make this course work effectively. Each class consist of fifteen children.

d. Scope and Sequence This course will be covered by English materials that are thaught at elementary school from fisrt grades until six grades. The materials that will be thaught also covered by a module that the teacher made. The materials will be sequenced from Simple to complex.

e. Course Structure The Course is arranged for 32 meetings which are held in 3 and a half months. It is scheduled from July 2013 to October 2013. Every meetings needs two hours or 120 minutes. The teaching and learning process will be divided into two classes with different time. The A class will be started at 3 pm until 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, the B class will be started at 6.30 pm until 8.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The evaluations will always be held after three meetings. The course uses Functional syllabus in order to reach goal effectively.

Teaching & Learning: This course will involve most commonly the students Aproach participation. Every material that are given by the teacher will be started with a short explanation then continued by assignment through fun games, and finally the teacher willl give the student exercises.

Passing Requirement

: The students is required to attend the class at least 75%, failure to do this requirement, the student are prohibited to follow the Final test, but there is an excuse if the student do the assignment given by the teacher. The student must complete the assessment in order to pass the course

Most of the reasons of the children who do not study at a formal school are their financial condition. People who live in a small country think that education is not very important for their children. Children who cannot study at a formal school prefer to help their parents to earn money. Children need to learn a foreign language. Children with bilingual and or multilingual abilities will be more creative. One of the requirement to have a better future knowing and understanding foreign language. Children are not accademically motivated to go to school because they think it is such a borring activities. Children have to learn the four basic skill in English in order to become proficient in English. Parents must know how important the education for their children is. An effective way to teach children has to be develop, in order to the process of teaching and learning successful. Goverrment must make learning program for those children who do not school or educational background and those children with financial problem.
