VISA REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

Any foreign national who enters the territory of Indonesia is required to possess a valid travel document and an entry permit or visa. The organizers of the ESP Conference take no responsibility for the information provided below; it might change without warning and it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct type of visa. You should check with your nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate well before your planned trip.

Some foreign nationals do not need to apply for a visa


They are permitted to enter visa-free for short visits30 (thirty) daysgranted at any immigration checkpoint. This applies to citizens from the following countries. 1. Brunei Darussalam 2. Chile 3. Ecuador 4. Hong Kong SAR 5. Macao SAR 6. Malaysia 7. Morocco 8. Peru 9. Philippines 10. Singapore 11. Thailand 12. Viet Nam

This type of permission cannot be extended, transferred or converted to any other kind of visa; nor can it be used as a working permit.

All other foreign nationals are required to possess a visa


Visas are issued to those persons who are visiting Indonesia on government work, on business, for social-cultural activities and for holidays. These visas are categorized into: Visa on Arrival Calling Visa Single Entry Visa o Business Visa o Socio-cultural Visa o Tourist visa o Government (Diplomatic/Service Visa) Multiple Entry Visa Transit Visa Temporary Stay Visa

Visa on Arrival
In accordance with the Regulation of Minister of Law and Human Right of the Republic of Indonesia Number: M.HH-01.GR.01.06, on 12 January 2010, citizens from 64 countries and 1 region are eligible for obtaining a visa on arrival directly when landed at airports or seaports in Indonesia. Requirements Passport valid at least 6 (six) months from entrance Round-trip ticket Visa fee (preferably in cash)

Visa fee for stay of up to 30 (thirty) days is USD 25. The 30-day visa is extendable to another 30 days at the nearest Immigration office in Indonesia but this visa is non-convertible into another type of visa. Overstaying this visa is a serious offence. Fines, blacklisting, confinement and deportation are all possible penalties for infractions. Extension of stay up to 30 (thirty) days costs USD 25.

Calling Visa
Citizens of the countries listed below require authorization from Indonesian Immigration prior to entering Indonesia (Calling Visa): 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Special Visa Procedure for these 16 nationalities is described below: 1. Apply for the visa at an Indonesian embassy abroad. 2. The embassy, having verified the application request, will send an official letter to Immigration in Jakarta requesting an immigration authorization approval letter, mentioning the supporting institution in Indonesia. Each application is marked with a reference number, which you can request. 3. The Immigration Office in Jakarta will verify the embassys request and invite the supporting institution to attend their weekly Clearance House meeting, held every Tuesday. The meeting is a for a full day, attended by representatives Intelligence (BIN), Immigration, BAIS, Police, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Justice. 4. The next day, the Minutes of the CH meeting will be forwarded to the Intelligence Section for approval (a one-day process). 5. The next day, Intelligence will forward the approved application to the visa section, who will then publish an authorization approval letter and send this letter to the Indonesian embassy where the request came from. 6. The Embassy will release the visa to the applicant. This process will take longer than a normal visa process: up to one month. If you are one of the above nationalities, please process your visa application as early as you can.

Single Entry Visa


Single Entry Business Visa A single entry business trip visa is not a working permit and is valid if presented within 3 [three] months after the date of issuance. 60 (sixty) days is the maximum length of stay that the applicant can apply for, however, this visa could be extended with the support of the sponsor in Indonesia. A Single Entry Visa is granted only for the purpose of conducting official government work (Diplomatic/ Service), business, social-cultural or leisure (holiday/tourist). The Government, Business and SocialCultural visas could be extended in Indonesia. The Directorate General of Immigration will consider and granting the extension of the Business and Social-Cultural Visas, while an extension of the Diplomatic and Service Visa will be granted by the Directorate for Consular Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs. For a certain purpose those visas could be converted into Temporary Stay Visa. Visa Requirements: Original passport valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay, Letter of sponsor from the sending company mentioning the purpose of visit explaining the position of the applicant, the purpose of visit and duration of stay. If deemed necessary, a guarantee of the availability of funds to cover living expenses while in Indonesia. Letter of invitation from the host company in Indonesia. Please note that a fax from the Director General of Immigration is not a letter of invitation. Copy of round trip Flight Itinerary/Electronic Airline Ticket Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph attached to the second page of the application form. Visa fee USD 60 and has to be made in money or company cheque payable to the Indonesian Embassy

Social/Cultural Visit Visa A single entry Social/Cultural Visit is valid if presented within 3 (three) months from the date of issuance. It will be granted to conduct socio-culture activities (family gathering, education, sport, etc.) A Social Culture Visa could be extended in Indonesia and could be converted into a Temporary Stay Visa. 60 (sixty) days is the maximum length of stay that the applicant can apply for, however, this visa could be extended with the support of your sponsor in Indonesia. Visa Requirements: Original passport, valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay. Letter of sending company Letter of invitation from the Indonesian sponsor (e.g. the employer, education institution) and/or a similar letter from the institution/people in Indonesia, explaining the position of the applicant, the purpose of the visit and the duration of stay. If deemed necessary, a guarantee of the availability of funds to cover living expenses while in Indonesia. Copy of confirmed round trip Airline ticket/ Electronic ticket. Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph attached to the second page of the application. Visa fee USD 60

Diplomatic and Service Visa Diplomatic Visa is given to foreign nationals bearing a diplomatic passport, for the conduct of diplomatic assignments in Indonesia or attending meetings. Requests for a Diplomatic Visa must be submitted via an Indonesian Diplomatic Mission abroad, by fulfilling the requirements. Diplomatic and

Service Visa is valid if presented within 3 [three] months after the date of issuance. Diplomatic Visa is given to foreign nationals bearing a Diplomatic or Laissez Passer (UN) passport for the purpose of conducting diplomatic assignments, or attending meetings. Service Visa is given to foreign nationals bearing an official/service passport on assignment for Government purposes. Please Note the visitor for leisure purpose will be granted a tourist visa. Please review tourist visa requirements. It takes at least 3 (three) working days to process a single entry visa. For a certain assignment, a visa will be issued after obtaining the necessary approval. Visa Requirements: Original passport valid for more than 6 (six) months, Diplomatic note from Foreign Government, Diplomatic Mission or from the United Nations Visa application form.

Tourist Visa A single entry Tourist Visa is valid if presented within 3 (three) months from the date of issuance. It is given to travelers who intend to stay in Indonesia on holiday/leisure purpose with a maximum stay of 60 (sixty) days. This type of visa will also be granted to persons who are employed in the tourism area (to arrange and accompany a tourist group, to promote tourism in Indonesia, etc). Tourist visa is not a working visa and cannot be converted into any other type of visa. Visa Requirements: Original passport, valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay. Copy of confirmed round trip Airline ticket/ Electronic ticket. Proof of entry and exit. Please note that traveler who chooses to buy an airline ticket on their way to Indonesia, will need to apply for their visa on arrival only. Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport photograph attached to the second page of the visa application. If deemed necessary, a guarantee of the availability of funds to cover the living expenses while in Indonesia. Visa fee USD 60 and has to be made in money order or company cheque payable to the Indonesian Embassy

Multiple Entry Visa


Multiple-entry visa is valid for 1 (one) year for several entries into Indonesia without exceeding 60 (sixty) days each visit. Multiple entry visa is valid for several entries into Indonesia and is only available for government, tourism, social cultural and business purposes for a maximum period of 1 (one) year. Each visit may not be for more than 60 (sixty) days. Multiple entry visa is not a working visa and cannot be extended This type of visa cannot be converted to a working visa and the length of stay cannot be extended. Visa Requirements: Original passport valid for more than 18 (eighteen) months beyond the intended length of stay. Reference letter of sponsor from the sending company Letter of invitation from the counterpart in Indonesia mentioning the purpose of visit. Explaining the position of the applicant, the purposes of visit and duration of stay (except for tourism purpose). If deemed necessary, a guarantee of the availability of funds to cover living expenses while in Indonesia.

Copy of confirmed round trip flight itinerary/electronic ticket. Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph attached to the second page of the application. Visa fee USD 165

Transit Visa
Transit visa is given to foreign origin who wishes to make a short stopover in Indonesian territory and are on an onward journey to another country, to their country of origin, to join or work on a transport vehicle that will continue its journey outside Indonesian territory and emergencies stop over. A Transit Visa can be obtained from the Indonesian Representatives in your country (Embassy, Consulate General, Consulate) or at an Immigration Check Point at designated Entry points at the Airports/Sea ports and Land Border (Transit Visa on Arrival) by paying all dues according to the regulations. Passenger on a Cruise line is recommended to obtain their visa prior to enter Indonesian territory. Visa Requirements: Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph. Original passport valid stay. Copy of confirmed entry and exit airline ticket. A transit visa will be valid for up to 14 (fourteen) days from the day of arrival in Indonesia. Passenger on a cruise line must submit a copy of their boarding pass as well as the itinerary of the stop (s) in Indonesian waters. Visa fee USD 20 for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay

Limited/Temporary Stay Permit (VITAS)


Limited Stay Visa is good for a single entry if presented within 3 months from the date of issuance and is valid for a maximum stay of 1 (one) year or more. It is granted upon the authorization from the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta and then issued at the discretion to the Embassy. To expedite the authorization, it is advisable to have the sponsor in Indonesia submit the request for the applicant's authorization from the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta. VITAS are for working and non-working purposes; such as foreign investment, family re union, repatriation, and retirement. This visa can be extended within Indonesia. Visa Requirements: Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph glued to the second page of the application. Original passport valid for 18 [eighteen] months from the date of issuance of the visa. A complete update of Curriculum Vitae Letter from the sending company mentioning the purpose of the stay in Indonesia. Letter from sponsor/agent in Indonesia mentioning the purpose of the stay in Indonesia Copy of flight itinerary An Indonesian Immigration authorization letter is required Visa fee USD 50 (6 months), USD 100 (1 year), USD 175 (2 years)

IMPORTANT
Holders of Diplomatic and Service passports from the following countries are exempted (the Government of Indonesia has made agreements with 15 countries to be exempted from applying for a visa to enter Indonesia for Diplomatic and Service passport holders who wish to visit Indonesia for a maximum of 14 days only). 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
