,#,#' T$e sealin* principle o" pac-er' the Annular BOP is sealed in two sta(es# The ... !ealin* Principle 0 !tr&ct&re an# sta(e one: the piston pushes the packin( Feat&re !p$erical Pac-er unit upo" with hydraulic pressure and cause it mo es upward alon( the spherical surface to the center of wellhead, and then the supportin( ribs close to(ether to crushed the rubber to the center of wellhead to form the initial sealin(# The sta(e two: if there is well pressure in hole, the wellbore pressure action on the upper annular surface of pistonNs inner chamber pushes the piston up 5 further cause the sealin( ti(hter to form reliable sealin(# At is called assistin( closin( of wellbore pressure#
3.3.2 F&nnel e""ect *rom the free state to the compressed state, each cross.section diameterNs reduction of the annual packer is different# The reduction at the top is bi( and at the bottom is small# Therefore, rubber compresses firmly a(ainst the steel se(ment at the top of the packer, but rubber at the bottom is only sli(htly compressed# This forms a ?funnel element2 that not only impro es the sealin( characteristics but also makes it easy for a tool Doint to enter the packer# =hen strippin( in, wellbore pressure compresses the rubber portion of packer to a oid tensile stress to prolon( the ser ice life of rubber#
,#,#, %&trudin( and tear of the packer are limited: when a hole is closed, the wellbore pressure forces the center rubber of packer to e&trude, but the top plate of supportin( ribNs spherical surface can resist that, so the rubber in a compressed state to support the lar(e pressure so that it will not be torn#
,#,#4 Lar*e reser3e o" r&%%er This kind of spherical packer has more spare rubber for replenishment after drillin( tools are torn because of forced strippin(, and there is no need to replace the rubber durin( the strippin(# At is especially suitable for the situation where drillin( tool rubs a(ainst rubber fre:uently#

4. =orkin( Principle and Primary "tructure *eatures of Annular BOP with Tapered Packers !*i(ure ,$
4.1 /or-in* Principle'
4.1.1The connection between the bonnet and shell of the Annular BOP with tapered packer
is Daw connection# At is composed of shell, bonnet, piston, packer, outside slee e, inside slee e, wear plate and some components, etc# !*i(ure ,$
4#'#8 =hen well blowout happens and needs to shut in the well, the hydraulic fluid is pumped into the closin( chamber of the BOP below the piston# As the piston rises, it pushes the packin( unit up# Because of the limitation of wear plate, the packin( unit mo es upward alon( the piston conical surface and wear plate to the center of wellhead durin( the risin( until the rubber between the supportin( ribs is crushed to enclasp the drillin( tools or seal the wellhead completely, and then seal the well# =hen the hydraulic fluid is pumped into the openin( chamber of the BOP abo e the piston# As the piston comes down, the compressi e force action on the wear plate is closed up, the packin( unit returns to its ori(inal position by its elasticity to open the well# 0
4#8#, There is a test hole of piston on the bonnet, contrast the piston stroke from time to time to predict the life of packer#
4#8#4 81 Daws are used for the connection between the bonnet and shell !*i(ure ,$# They ha e reliable connection and the shell is under uniform stress# At is easy to disassemble and assemble# There are two ?O2 sealin( rin(s on each of the Daw screw to pre ent the rustin( between Daw and bonnet# 4#8#5 A dismountable wear plat is e:uipped on the friction surface which the top of bonnetNs inner chamber contact with the supportin( ribs of packer !*i(ure ,$ to protect bonnet and easy to replace#
4#8#- The inner chamber on the top of piston is taper, contact with conical surface packer directly# Mue to the de(ree of the taper is small, the thrust of piston for closin( is also and O#M# is less than other type of annular BOP#
5. Installation Met$o#
-#' Installation Annular BOP cannot be transported to well site till sealin( pressure test, which rises pressure to rated workin( pressure# Anstallation should be accordin( to the BOPNs combined form of the re:uirement of well control# The Doints of well tubin( and ram BOP should be in the same direction# -#8 Press&re test a"ter installation Annular BOP should be fi&ed firmly after installation and be performed the hydrostatic proof tested with the whole set of wellhead de ices to inspect the reliability of sealin( characteristics and all connections# Only :ualified BOP can be used# On the drillerNs station and remote control console, the BOP should be checked by closin( and openin( twice to inspect the correspondence between openin( 9 closin( and practical operation and correctness of connection of pipe lines# Air should be remo ed from the oil duct# The BOP should be in the open position when normal drillin(#
5#4 =hen usin( the Annular BOP to strippin( in without well kill, must use '6Gtool Doint# On the hydraulic control closin( lines, in addition to the indi idual depressurin( re(ulatin( al e, if there is a accumulator, the hydraulic percussion in the closin( chamber can be obtained a cushionin( effect to e&tend the packerNs ser ice life# Murin( forced strippin(, on the premise of sealin(, hydraulic pressure should be adDusted as low as possible and the speed of strippin( should be controlled strictly# %specially the drill pipes should be put up and down slowly throu(h the Doints#
5#- After openin( the BOP, it should be checked if the BOP is opened fully to pre ent the packer to be scratched# 5#5 At is not allowed to release the wellbore pressure by openin( BOP# 5#0 =hen the BOP is in closin( position, it is allowed to mo e drillin( tool up and down but not to turn it#
