CCGT Power Plant run on LPG

Konstantinos VardakastanisSenior Process Engineer at URS Infrastructure & Environment UK Limited Dear All, can you please provide me with some examples with references of power plants, if its possible CCGT, that run with LPG? Thanks

There is one in Wichita Falls, TX that uses propane as a backup. The propane however is vaporized and mixed with air to result in a heating value per scf close to that of natural gas. That allows the gts to use only one set of fuel nozzles for both gases while keeping the gas velocity through the nozzles the same. The plant was a 3 ea LM2500 X 3 ea 600# HRSG X 1 ea geared steam turbine (Mitsubishi if memory does not fail me). I believe the name of the plant is Wichita Falls Energy. Whether it is still in operation, I do not know. The work I did there was in the late 1980s.

Shikandar Shikandar Nadaf -USA, that runs on either Propane or Natural gas. The propane is stored on-site, underground in a large cavern, and is vaporized before use. Plant is running fine and they have no problems firing on propane. IN GT output/performance between the two fuels. And, when I was back on-site, about 2 years ago, they didn't indicate a preference for either fuel. The units seem to run just fine on either fuel.

Natural gas-powered gas turbine compressor blades for air flow if run on LPG fuel flow control valve for the fuel you need the software again? LPG or natural gas instead of making no adjustment is obtained satisfies healthy working? t may be the difference in usage Naturel Gas or Liqufied Petroleum Gas. The GT was a standard GT (no DLN burners). It could fire natural gas or propane. they are peaking units. The operating procedures/compressor blading were identical to other gas fired GT's.

Jason Jason Fournier, PMP Director at NAES EcoElectrica owns and operates a triple fuel unit in Penuelas, Puerto Rico (500 MW Siemens 501D5 I beleive). The CTs can be fired on natural gas, propane or diesel. http://www.ecoelectrica.com/about/ataglance.html

EcoElctrica at a glance
What we are: An i ntegrated facility that includes a power plant fired by natural gas; LNG terminal and a desalination plant. Plant efficiency: 7500 BTU/kWh Plant availability: Approximately 94% of the time. Location: Tallaboa in Punta Guayanilla, Peuelas, Puerto Rico. Employees: Approximately 78, 82% are from southern Puerto Rico . Capacity : 540 MW nominal capacity and 507 MW contracted capacity. Energy production: Generates approximately 13% of energy consumed in Puerto Rico . Energy contract: EcoElctrica produces and sells electricity to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority under a power purchase agreement that is valid from the year 2000 through 2022. LNG terminal: Natural Gas is transformed into liquefied natural gas (LNG) in neighboring Trinidad Tobago in order to facilitate its transportation by sea. It takes an LNG ship approximately 30 hours to make the journey to Puerto Rico . LGN tank : It has a storage capacity of 1,000,000 barrels of LNG, the equivalent of 160,000 cubic meters or 42 million gallons or a 40 day power supply. The plant also includes equipment to convert LNG to its gaseous stage. Fuels: Although EcoElctrica generates electricity primarily with natural gas, the plant is equipped to run with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or propane gas) and diesel fuel. Water production : EcoElctrica has the capacity to produce 2,000,000 gallons of desalinated water per day. Fifty-percent of the production is consumed by the plant and the remainder is sold to PREPA and to the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority. Environmental benefits: Natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel available on the international market.
