8th Grade Individual Graduation Plans (IGP)

The Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) states that all eighth grade students are required to initiate an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). An IGP is a plan of study that emphasizes academic and career development from eighth grade until graduation from high school. In order to initiate the IGP, the Guidance Department will meet with you and your child to select a cluster of study, based on the Lexington District 5 Curriculum Framework for Career Development. We will begin IGP conferences in November and continue into the second semester . You will receive a letter in the mail which will have a scheduled appointment time. Expect the appointment to last approximately 45 minutes. During this appointment, we will provide information on the IGP process in a group presentation format, and then you will have an opportunity to:

Select a career cluster to help guide his or her high school course selection Ask questions about the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) Review your students career assessments Discuss resources available to you and your student for career exploration

We encourage you to attend this very important meeting. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Guidance Department at (803) 476-3668 or email Allison Redick at aredick@lexrich5.org to reschedule your appointment. Your child will be called to the presentation unless you call to reschedule the appointment time.
