As the one of instrument to deliver language to the student, textbook plays important roles in teaching and learning process.

Textbook itself used by student and the teacher to cope with the material that given by the teacher (Riazi, 2003). Several theories explained the importance of textbook in learning process of the classroom (Hutchinson, Torres, 1994). Hutchinson and Torres stated that relevant textbook on the classroom would complete learning process in the classroom. The development of the technology could change everything become digital. Now days, textbook not only published in the printed version but also in electronic version, which known as E-book. Those condition made Pusat kurikulum dan perbukuan decide to create electronic textbook policy for school. The policy has several puposes, 1) provide alternative study source to the student, 2) stimulate student to think creatively by using information and technology, 3) give an opportunity to duplicate, print, copy, or to sell it without permission and free of royalty charge accordance with the provisions of the Minister , 4) provide business opportunity for anyone to copy and trade with profit forecast 15% enforced in accordance with the provisions of the Minister ( Puskurbuk, 2013) To maintain the standard of the textbook, the government decided to make standardization on textbook. BSNP is the government board which is responsible for evaluating the textbook. BNSP uses evaluation instrument of the textbook to select standardized textbook. Two aspects of the textbook are assessed by this instrument. First aspect is content feasibility, this aspect cover three sub-component; suitability to basic competency, accuracy of the material and supporting learning material. Second aspect is presentment feasibility; it covers presentment technique, learning presentment and presentment completeness (BNSP, 2013). In the subcomponent of presentment feasibility, image or illustration includes inside its component. In many disciplines, ideas are expressed by illustration on the textbook, the forms can vary on photo, drawing, diagram, chart etc. These visuals help the reader to cope the idea on the textbook. Beside the content of the textbook that provide a good material related with the competency, illustration plays important role. Visual representations are symbols in which some spatial relations are interpreted to mean something about referent (Perini, 2010) By illustration, the students will be able to anticipate the material might they face in the unit. Visual also become

the essential aspect on the student affection in the classroom, student can be attracted by the visual on the textbook (Spiliotopoulou & Fotakopoulou, 2008). However, the education practitioners gave less attention to the image. Several research on the textbook as a main focus focused on the content, linguistic etc ( e.g Gender Bias pada Elektronik EFL textbook untuk kelas 12, Hadi Prayogo, 2013; An Evaluation of English Language Textbook "Say It In English", Dr.Hamad Al-sowat, 2012; The Analysis Of English Textbook Based On Competence based Curriculum (Cbc) For The First Year School published By Penerbit Erlangga and Pt. Intan Pariwara, Ririm Nihayatur Rahmah, 2011; etc). Tomlinson stated that the most published research on materials development has focused on materials evaluation. One of the problems in materials evaluation that Tomlinson points out, is that most often it is the researchers subjective views that determine what criteria are measured and valued in a course book. However, in recent years, efforts have been made to create objective instruments that can offer more reliable facts about the usefulness of materials. Another problem in materials evaluation is that research has mostly been concerned with pre-use evaluation which is speculative and often too time-consuming for teachers to use. It is not until recent years that efforts have been made to create instruments that enable pre-use, whilst-use and post-use Evaluation. This indicates that materials evaluation should be considered an on-going process. Tomlinson claims that research on the value of developing materials in different ways, as well as research on the effects of different kinds of materials, is still needed (Tomlinson p 69, 2006).
