For instance, say: "I went to New Zealand on vacation. I had some extra money from the bonus I got for increasing our sales one year." This presentation allows you to stick to the facts and incorporate an achievement into a pertinent story. But don't make it all about you. Give credit where credit is due. By recognizing success in your peers, you invite praise to be reciprocated in the future.

Manners are a thing of the past. Gone are the days when gentlemen hold doors for women and open the car door for them. It's quite sad. But the ladies do notice. I held a door for a lady and she said thank you. I said, "your welcome miss. Have a great afternoon." She smiled like crazy as if I bought her a diamond ring. If guys didn't act like immature idiots and grow up, they would get a lot further in life.

That's kind of a boast. |But you wouldnt want to live there - check out my you are elle to see why. It's a third world country these days - most NZers you meet would say ';why come here - we are trying to escape the place; Sad but true.
Reply Expat2 on Sep 23, 10:01 PM said: @An Expat: Habit number 12 - dont make generalised negative comments about a population and country you are so far removed from now that you are an expat. Think places like NZ would benefit from some expats not returning, Everyone else, go on holiday and see what a great place it is.

Flag as Offensive @immature men: I once opened a door for a date and she told me emphatically that that wasn't necessary. She wanted to go on a second date, but like an ex of mine, that behavior may become emasculating in a long term relationship. Some women love that chivalry, others have had previous experiences that makes them suspicious of your intentions. Who knows what/why some women motivates women to act a certain way on a first date. It may be just simple; "She's not that into you"?

know about these things, but nowadays being healthy is even more important. If you are overweight, out-of-shape, and spend your time toxifying yourself, people will not respect you and/or believe you are successful. It's all about balance. Being fit is not just for jocks anymore. You need a balanced mind and body to succeed and no amount of BS coming out of your mouth can explain away your over-sized butt! In Japan, someone who is slender is called "smart." There's a reason for this....
Reply newbalance on Sep 22, 4:21 PM said: @Mind and Body: It's not about balance, being fat, or being a skinny stick. It's about grace. Fat people don't have it. Neither do skin and bones people. If you eat healthy and workout, and also have a great attitude on life, you will exhibit grace.

Flag as Offensive I like you comment! )) Those immature guys, you called them losers , they behave that way to protect themselves of responsibility of not being successful. And this is paradox, woman start choose the best of those losers , thinking she found a good one! I understood, men community not ever realizing what they do, but they lowering the level of success! I am from Lithuania, and what I see , if you are successful .....you are not popular among young women as you do not get recognition from those loosers , as they are the judges out times!

Wonderful article. Manners, I like that tip so much. No matter where we are, we should practice this.

Flag as Offensive Am I the only one here outraged by the usage of the term "trailer-trash bumpkins"? This term reeks of social hatred towards the working class and the poor. Social hatred is as destructive as religious hatred and racism, amongst other variants of hatred. Though, I must admit that the usage of such an unenlightened term can be somewhat expected from an individual socially clumsy enough to give unenlightened advice such as: 'For instance, say: "I went to New Zealand on vacation. I had some extra money from the bonus I got for increasing our sales one year."' Whoever wrote this feature is neither worldly nor kind.

One more thought. Pick up a pen and write a thank you note to the people in your life, yes, in your own hand-writing. This is the most effective, cost-efficient personal advertising you can ever produce. Imagine how you would feel opening up your snail-mail box and getting a hand-written note from someone thanking you for taking them to dinner, an act of kindness you showed them, being invited to a party you threw, or for simply for being in someone's life. You'll never forget them.
