The corporation charges interest at the rate of 4% compounded monthly on his loan. Now that he has graduated and wishes to repay the loan by amortizing it through monthly payments over 10 years at the same rate. Find the size of the monthly payments he will be required to make. [4 marks]

3. The production cost for manufacturing certain brand of steam iron consists of a fixed cost of RM2200 and a variable cost of RM10 per item. The company decides to sell each unit of steam iron for RM120. (i) Find the cost function and revenue function. (ii) Sketch the graphs of the cost function and revenue function, hence determine the quantity that the manufacturer should produce and sell in order to make profits. [2 marks] [4 marks]

4.

A company needs to import programming devices for the numerically controlled machines it produces and services. The necessary arrangements for the import has been estimated to cost the company RM 175 per order. Each item is bought at a cost of RM 50. The holding cost is 12% per annum of the value of stock. The demand rate for the programming devices is 60 units per month. [4 marks] [2 marks]

(i) Determine the economic order quantity and the frequency of ordering. (ii) Calculate the minimum total annual inventory cost of the ordering policy. (iii) If the company operates 250 days per year and the lead time is 2 weeks, obtain the reorder point.

(i) Find the critical path and determine the minimum completion time of the project.

[2 marks]

(ii) Construct a table showing the earliest start time, latest finish time and the total float for each activity. (iii) If duration of activity B is extended to 5 days, determine whether the project will be delayed. Give a reason for your answer. (iv) If the number of workers for each activity is given below, draw a Gnatt chart and resource histogram for the project if all activities start as early as possible. Activity Number of workers 6. Fairyland Company wishes to produce two types of key-chain, A and B. Type A and type B key chains will make a profit of RM1.00 and RM 1.20 respectively. To manufacture a type A key chain requires 2 minutes on machine I and 1 minute on machine II. A type B key chain requires 1 minute on machine I and 3 minutes on machine II. There are 3 hours available on machine I and 5 hours available on machine II for processing the order.

(i) Formulate a linear programming problem to maximize the profit within the constraint. [3 marks] (ii) Using the simplex method, determine the number of each type of key chain made which gives this maximum profit.

7. The profit function and revenue function for the production and sales of x unis of the model X health equipment ( in RM ) are given respectively as follows : P(x) = -15 000 + 450x - 3 and R( x ) = 5000 + 650x [4 marks] health equipment. [2 marks]

(i) Calculate the break-even quantities. (ii) Find the exact cost of producing the

(iii) Using the marginal approach, determine the number of units of the model X health equipment that must be produced in order to maximize the profit and state the maximum profit in RM. [6 marks] (iv) Sketch on the same axes, the graphs of the revenue and cost functions. Hence, indicate the break-even points and the maximum profit. [3 marks]

8. The manager of a multinational company and the union of workers are preparing to sit down at the bargaining table to work out the details of a new constract for workers. Let us call unions proposals as Proposal 1, Proposal 2, Proposal 3, and managers proposals as Contract A, Contract B, Contract C. The reward matrix is as follows: Proposal 1 2 3 A 9.5 7.0 6.0 Contract B 12.0 8.5 9.0

C 7.0 6.5 10.0

(i) By using the graphical method and eliminate dominated strategies, determine the optimal strategy for the manager of a multinational company and the union of workers. [12 marks] (ii) Determine the proposals that will be chosen by union of workers. (iii) Find the value of the game. [1 mark] [2 marks]
