Notes from Ms. Allen:


Morrisville Cares and Shares: During the months of November and December, we will be collecting canned vegetables (beans, peas, corn, etc.) at MES. All donations can be placed in the large box in the lobby. All of your donations go to Wake Relief Food Pantry in Raleigh. Raunak and Logan will be representing our class in the MES Spelling Bee this Tuesday! All students are encouraged to support them by dressing like bees (wearing black and yellow) this Tuesday, December 3 ! Our class has worked hard to stay on-track in all areas around the school, and we have FINALLY earned our white ribbon for on-track behavior! We will track out on Wednesday, December 4 . Students will be bringing home all folders and binders. Please help your child find a safe place to keep their notes & common assessments from this quarter so that they can use them again to study for EOGs!

What Were Working On:


Reading: In reading, students have practiced researching on a topic using a variety of sources as they worked to complete research projects on a revolutionary person involved in the American Revolution. Students chose to either create a VoiceThread presentation or a Photo Story. All presentations will be available for viewing in Room 415 on Literacy Night, Tuesday, December 3rd. Students also finished their literature circle discussion groups. The students have really enjoyed taking part in these discussions! All literature circle discussions can be heard on our class website under the Literature Circle Discussions tab. Writing: In writing, students have completed their final opinion piece of the quarter. The students worked very hard on opinion writing this quarter and have made a lot of growth with this type of writing. We will begin a short poetry unit this week. Students will explore and write narrative poems. Social Studies: In social studies, we have learned about early life in the 13 original British colonies and the causes and effects of the Revolutionary War. moving on to study the battles of the Revolutionary War. Math: In math, we learned all about evaluating algebraic expressions using the order of operations, analyzing patterns in sets of numbers, and graphing sets of numbers to analyze them. Students have participated in a variety of math centers to practice these skills. Some of the students have created videos teaching others how to perform these operations. These videos can be viewed under the Math At Home tab on our class website. We are now
