Findings and Discussion 1. Analysis on magazines Maskulin In Maskulin, mostly they use a current popular Malaysian idol on the cover page. In September issue, they get Izzue Islam. Izzue Islam is the famous actor who play role in very popular drama series, Sebenarnya Saya Isteri Dia. He gets 229, 210 likes on his official Facebook account and 169,803 followers on Twitter (retrieved on 21 Nov 2013). Even though he never shows his body to public, we analyze through his pictures on Internet and he doesnt have ideal body shape. He is not too fat and not too thin. He is in medium level. Moreover, in the other section, they have some sections focus on mens body shape such as Workout, HotnFit and Advertorial. In this category, they only use body builder whether he is known or unknown model. They also use mens body to provide information, fashion and advertisement in the other sections. So, in terms of ideal body shape, we analyze on upper body only which are abs, chest, biceps and neck. For chest, biceps and neck, we categorize the measurement into three level of muscle builder which are beginner, intermediate and hardcore because of limitation of the models information and we cannot measure the parts through photographs.

In addition, this issue show only three unclothes mens upper body photographs (see appendix 70, 74, 77). All of the models body has 4 packs abs. For the chest, there is one intermediate level (see appendix X) and two are beginner (see appendix X, X). This magazine show six intermediate (see appendix X, X, X, X, X, X) and one hardcore level for biceps (see appendix 20, 72, 78, 70, 74, 77) while neck only two intermediate levels (see appendix 77, 78). In October issue, Maskulin use Beto Kusyairy as cover page. Beto is well known actor in Malaysia. His name rose after acted in Juvana film series. He also play role in many famous film in Malaysia. His Twitter account gets 182,867 followers while 68,687 likes on Facebook (retrieved on 21 Nov 2013). He also doesnt have ideal body shape as it shows in Juvana film (see appendix X). As we analyzed in this issue, the Maskulin team showed two four packs mens abs (see appendix 12, 125) and three without pack, but still in shape (see appendix 32, 74, 79). For the biceps, only one beginner biceps builder (see appendix 79), five intermediate (see appendix 2, 38, 71 front, 71 back, 79) and one hardcore level (see appendix 73). Furthermore, for chest category, there are three in beginner level (see appendix 32, 74, 79) and two for intermediate (see appendix 12, 125). Lastly, only four intermediate neck builders showed in this issue (see appendix 38, 74, 79, 125). During the analysis, we find only shaved or at least short facial or body hair. All of this actors and models portrayed in this magazine, we dont find any extravagance effect on them. The Maskulin team only enhances the color, adding shadow and put some effects. It can conclude that, they define masculinity by popularity, ideal body shape, profession (high salary and wearing tuxedo) and fashion.

Here, we calculate the total number for ideal mens body portrayed in Maskulin in both September and October issues.

Comparison between magazines and interviews

According to Law an Ethics Extravagance Violating human right Advertising act According to Zeti Azreen Ahmad, there are three principles of Islamic code of journalism ethics which are taqwa, ihsan and ikhlas. A Muslim journalist should report the truth accurately, impartially and justly. A Muslim journalist must not even think of publishing articles or photographs that would incite people into acts of immorality.

Men ideal body and masculinity from Islamic perspective Generally, Islam encourage to all Muslim to have a good health and strong body. Of course, in Islam, there is no specification to all Muslims to have certain ideal body or masculinity such as having six packs, being fashionista and others. We can be whatever it is as long as following the Shariah. Quranic verse about aurah. The famous hadith, The Prophet (saw)

In term of inner and outer appearance, the Prophet Muhammad is the best example. The Prophet Muhammad height is medium. His face was fair, attractive and slightly round. He had wavy hair, neither straight nor curly, and his hair touched his shoulders. His eyes were wide and his pupils were black. He had a thick beard with soft cheeks. His chest and shoulders were wide. His teeth were bright and sparkled when he spoke. The Messenger of Allah s.a.w. was neither very tall nor very short, but of a medium stature amongst his people. His hair was neither very curly nor very straight, but had a slight wave in it. He did not have a big body or a round face, but his blessed face was slightly round. His complexion was white with redness in it. His blessed eyes were extremely black. His eyelashes were long. !e joints of the body were large, as was the portion between the two shoulders broad and fully fleshed. He has no excessive hair on his body. He had a thin line of hair running from the chest to the navel. His hands and feet were fully fleshed. When he walked, he lifted his legs with vigor, as if he were descending to a low lying place. When he addressed a person he turned his whole body towards that person. The Seal of Prophethood was situated between his shoulders. He was the last of all prophets. He was the most generous and the most truthful. He was the most kind-hearted and came from a most noble family. Any person who saw him suddenly would become awe-inspired. Anyone who describes his noble features can only say, I have never seen anyone like the Messenger of Allah, not before him, not after him. However, the Western culture has been invaded the Muslim magazines and Muslim mind. This will result Islamic values will disappear slowly where the acceptance from our own Muslim society such as not covering aurah as portrayed in magazines. To make it clear, the other example is from films. Muslim society usually angry when see an actor and actress which is not muhrim touch each other in real life. On the other hand, when an actor act as son for

a an actress in the film, where they are not muhrim too, people usually doesnt feel anything wrong about it. This acceptance and Westernization are very dangerous to Muslim society. People angry for Mangga magazine for showing aurah and gossip fatwa said that magazine is haram already but in mens magazine, most of the picture show the aurah like in the health section, fashion section why it not consider as haram too? I think when its about mens aurah, people doesnt care anymore as long as it not over the limit.

What is you ideal body shape? What is the purpose of magazine? How are you defining masculinity? Do you aware about real and photoshop-ed photographs in magazine? What is the ideal body for man in term of weight, height and physical status?
