About This Chapter
1.
Configuring a BTS
This topic describes how to configure a BTS for the BSC. The site helps to achieve the radio transmit/receive function and radio coverage of cells under the site. The BSC performs the centralized control and management over the site and radio resource allocation for the site. 8.1 Adding a BTS This topic describes how to add a BTS for the BSC and configure the cell basic attributes, TRX attributes, and equipment attributes for the BTS. 8.2 Configuring the Internal Connection of a BTS This topic describes how to configure the internal connection of a BTS. The internal connection of a BTS must be configured in cabinet groups. The communication between BTS cabinet groups is based on the internal connection between the main cabinet of the main cabinet group and the main cabinet of the extension cabinet group. 8.3 Configuring a Site Chain This topic describes how to configure a site chain to add a path between BTSs or between a BTS and the BSC.

The CI of a cell must be unique. If you select GPRS Support, the BSC must be configured with a PCU. If the BTS does not support the GRPS function or the GPRS services are unavailable in the cell, do not select GRPS Support. When you select EDGE Support, GRPS Support is selected automatically if the GPRS function is not configured. You also have to select a PCU from the PCU drop-down list.
Step 12 Click OK to return to the dialog box shown in Figure 8-9. Step 13 Click Next. A dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 8-10.

NOTE
l l l
This topic takes configuring one antenna feeder port on the DDPU as an example. If the antenna feeder port is not required, you can delete the DDPU. You have to specify at least one TRX for the downlink tributary of the DDPU. For other tributaries, retain the default settings. The DDPU has two paths: A and B. The two paths are independent of each other. The data configurations of the DDPU must be consistent with the physical connections, and the frequency band of the TRX must be the same as the frequency band of the DDPU.
Step 16 Set the parameters by referring to Table 8-1, as shown in Figure 8-13. For the parameters on the Extended Connection Attributes tab page, retain the default settings. Figure 8-13 Setting antenna feeder attributes

Mandatory/ Optional. The internal connection must be configured when the TRXs of a BTS Optional are configured in different cabinets and the cabinets are in different cabinet groups.
Prerequisite
l l
The TRX of the BTS is configured in different cabinet groups. Each cabinet group has at least one available E1 port.
Preparation
NOTE
This topic describes how to configure the connection between two cabinet groups where the TRX is configured.
