Choice Reading Project Annotations If you choose the Annotations project, then you will need to annotate while

you read which means that you do the following: Ask Questionsusing the questioning technique learned in class Define Unknown Terms Make Predictions State Reactions Make Connections Illustrate Analyzeinterpret comparisons and cause and effect relationships Summarize

How you choose to keep track of your annotations is up to you. However, you need to present your annotations in a note book. The note book should include the following: 1. A title page which needs to have the title of the book you read and the theme that you chose for the unit. You need to explain on this page how your notebook is set up. You can organize your annotations by chapter or by annotation. 2. The last page of your notebook needs to have a 1 page minimum write up on how the book relates to the theme. You need to include at least 3 significant quotes from the book to back up your ideas.

Choice Reading Project Writing If you choose to do a writing piece your piece can be any of the following forms of writing but the writing pies MUST relate to your book: Personal Narrative (Handout and Rubric Provided) Definition Essay (Handout and Rubric Provided) An Expository writing piece of your choosing Your writing piece needs to focus on whichever theme you chose. Here are the formal requirements: 1. The writing piece must be 2-3 pages typed and in MLA format (YOU WILL BE LEARNING WHAT THIS IS) 2. You need to write three drafts a. A first draft which you will need a parent/friend/etc read edit and revise with you b. A second draft with corrections and additions that you will share with me c. A final draft All three drafts will be passed in at the end of the quarter/semester. I will let you know the dates that these need to be completed by

Choice Reading Project Presentation For this option you are required to create a presentation of one of the themes from the book you read. Your presentation can take the form of one of the following: Powerpoint10 slide minimum including images, important terms about the theme etc. PREZIgo to http://prezi.com/ it is free to sign up! See me if you need some help with this one. Design, create, and upload a webpage or wikiA webpage or a wiki is an online source of information designed to be interactive with an Internet user. The student may elect to create a page with blogs, polls, external links, embedded video and/or sound, games, message boards/forums, and/or other modes of interaction. Design, create, and upload a podcastA podcast is a downloadable audio program similar to a radio show and intended to share information with a listener. The student may create a fictional or non-fictional radio show that integrates musical pieces, interviews, commentaries, discussions, debates, lessons, tours, and/or other modes of imparting information. Design, create, and upload a filmThe student may create a fictional or non-fictional film that utilizes various camera shots, angles, and effects. The film should have a cohesive story line including exposition, conflict, and resolution.

Your presentation needs to focus on whichever theme you chose. You will share your presentation in front of the class.

Choice Reading Project A Class Activity or Lesson You can create a lesson and activity for the class to do that revolves around the theme that you chose. You lesson should include the following: 1. Clear objectives: what do you want the class to learn about the theme? 2. A reading/activity/game etc to teach the material that you want everyone to learn 3. A way to assess (test) whether or not the class understands and has learned what you wanted them to about the subject.

Your class activity or lesson presentation needs to focus on whichever theme you chose. IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO A CLASS ACTIVITY OR LESSON AND NEED THE ENTIRE CLASS PERIOD LET ME KNOW.
